GW Grognard: Personal Time

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about whatever is on my mind. Hopefully it’s related to 40K in some way.

I hope everyone is being safe at this time. With a lot of us still staying at home, it can sometimes be tough to keep busy. I know that many of us have plenty of projects to finish in the realm of 40K. This doesn’t even count the actual household stuff you have to do, so there are many times that, even though we are home, we still don’t have time to work on the projects we want to. With that in mind, here are a few tips to help you get that personal time and space so that you can work on projects that you want to and finish those army projects before the next big event.

Look for Toilet Paper

Even though it has been about a month, more or less, there are still places that seem to be out of toilet paper. It may not be toilet paper, but can be some other type of item that your household needs and is hard to come by. Use this opportunity to have your significant other/roommate go out on a quest to find some. Be sure to emphasize the extreme need for the item and that you need it today. This should send them out for a few hours looking for the item. If you’re lucky, they will find what they are looking for, and you get a few hours to yourself and your projects.

Hide and Seek

This is a game that people of all ages should know about. Suggest the game to your household and even offer to be the one that is “it”. When you do your initial count, be sure it is a high number. This will give you time to get your hobby station setup and, if you’re lucky, some of the smaller members of the household may even fall asleep. While you are “looking” for the other members of the household, you could easily be building and painting your models. When you are done simply find those players. You could even play again right after if you need more time. You get your hobby done and make it seem that the whole household is having fun playing a game.

Close the Door and Lock it

This is the easiest. Simply close the door and lock it. You can just ignore those knocks on the door and the yelling from the other side. I’m sure your kids can take care of themselves. Be sure to have some noise cancelling headphones to really drown out those pesky outside noises. This new quiet atmosphere will help you to find your center and focus on your 40K projects. You can get food, water, and other necessities, when they go to sleep at night, so you never need to leave the room during the daytime. This should easily cause you to catch up on all of your wargaming projects. I expect to see a number of completed armies from all of you.

That’s all for this week. Let us know how you are getting time for your hobby in the comments section below. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
