GW were right to wait a while before updating the rules, the community reactions are often very overblown, even if there was some merit in this instance.
The Marines did need some adjustments, but even a 6 month period before they were implemented is not a big problem in the scheme of things.
Intercessor spam is not going to be anywhere near as unkillable as plaguebearer spam guys… a unit of -2 to hit plaguebearers with a 4+ invuln is much, much harder to remove than 5++/5+++ Intercessors. 9 heavy bolter shots (assuming you have chapter master and LT buffs) kills an IH intercessor. It takes 7 to kill a buffed plaguebearer, so 14 attacks to do equal damage to the plaguebearers. Not to mention the potential for wasted damage if you’re firing multi-damage weapons into the plaguebearers.
