Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to talk about my favorite topic, Epic 40K
Now I love Warhammer 40,000. From the background to the models, I became hooked from almost the beginning. My first introduction to the grim dark universe was actually the original Adeptus Titanicus. The image of giant robots and tiny little men battling it out really captured my imagination. The additional back story of the Horus Heresy further cemented my love for the game universe and I have been all in ever since. I still love epic and am currently planning a hybrid game where I can have my tanks and little marines battle alongside the current titan model range. As we all know, the last few years Games Workshop has been able to bring a lot of those early epic models to life, whether it is through Forgeworld or the main line. We are seeing knight titans, baneblades, and night spinners finally make an appearance on the 28mm tabletop. With that said, here are a few more models from the old epic range that I would like to see.
Tyranid Dominatrix
The Dominatrix is one of the larger tyranid models from the range, but not bio-titan sized. It is actually 2 creatures in one that allows the army to quickly adapt on the fly without having to wait for the ships to do it. It was a tough super heavy with a good save and very good in close combat. it had a strong AoE gun and was also a synapse creature that you built a detachment around. Other than a bio-titan, a Dominatrix easily stood out in the battlefield and would make a nice centerpiece to any Tyranid army.
Squat Land Train
One of the reasons that the squats were “squated” was that they didn’t seem to fit in the 40K universe on the 28mm tabletop. Many people think that they really hit their stride in epic scale because Games Workshop was really able to flesh out their armory to better reflect their race and culture. I really loved the Land train and it is just so out there. The thought of an armored train moving along the battle field dealing death while absorbing a ton of shots fills my mind with glee. I hope they do come back as an army, along with all their strange land trains, gyrocopter, and other airships (which you can actually see over in Age of Sigmar).
Eldar Knight Stallion
I’m usually not a fan of the Eldar in general but in those early days of epic I like the Knight Stallion for Eldar. It was very different from the other race’s knights and seemed to fit with the Eldar in general. It especially fit if you happened to have a force that was from one of the exodite worlds. I can easily see an exodite codex release and one of the big splashes would be this new Eldar knight that looked like a centaur. I think it would fit in well and give eldar players something prety to look at because we all know eldar players like to look at pretty. shiny things (like soul gems).
