Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to expound on all things 40K.
The game is about 2 and a half years old. What started as an 8 page pamphlet and a few books has grown into a vast library. There are many codexes and supplements from White Dwarf. Then there are the FAQs for everything that Games Workshop produces. You can also add in the rules for the different supplements, like Blackstone Fortress. This large collection of rules seems to be a problem for some people. Their desire to play 3 different codexes from 8 different sources cause a lot of back strain. So I am here today to help you with a few ideas on how to reduce the weight that you have to carry to your local tournament.
Hire a Sherpa
With the availability of the internet today I’m sure you could hire a Sherpa to help carry your stuff. I’m pretty sure that you can find one on Amazon or Wish. No matter where the tournament is at, your Sherpa will be there to carry the essentials you need for your games. They follow directions really well and don’t ask too many questions. Now how many you actually need will depend on your army. If you can’t afford to hire a Sherpa, or two, then I’m sure there is a local fan that could help you out.
Ask a Friend
Know someone with a truck and a lot of spare time? Do they owe you a favor? Then why not just ask a friend to help. I’m sure they would be happy to help you move your army, 20 books, display board, “water” cooler, planning board, and snack bar to the next tournament you are attending. It is even easier if they are the type of person that is easy to guilt. Just guilt them into helping you and for little, or no, cost you have a reliable way to transport your army around. You save money and the pain to your back.
Just One Book
This last option is really simple: just choose your army from one book. Brilliant, I know. By limiting yourself to one book you greatly reduce the material that you need for your games. Don’t even bother with any of the new books or supplements. You can easily win with out the latest and greatest models to come out of the forgeworlds. The savings in weight and worry will greatly outweigh your ability to win, or even be competitive. There is too much stuff out there anyway, right? Just forget about it all and stick to your one book guns. No matter what happens, your opponents can’t take away you relief from lower back pain.
I hope that helps. I know there are many other ways to reduce the amount of books you use. If you have any ides, leave them in the comments below! Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
And remember boys and girls, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart
Or just buy the digital version of the books. All I have to carry is a single iPad.
Everybody want to win, but no one wants to do the work.
“Just go one book”
*laughs in T’au, then cries*
Why so sad, T’au are perfectly good as a one-book army.
OK if you want to win a really big GT the easy thing to do is go triptide/shield drone but with CA19 there are other options well worth looking at.
Right there with ya with Necrons. 🙂
