- We thought it would be fun to do a State of the Chaos Address for episode 666 of Signals, so let’s check in on 40k Chaos!
- Big win for Chaos with the destruction of Cadia. It only took 13 attempts but they got there in the end! The little Chaos Engine that could!
- Upon seeing the popularity of the new kid on the block, Discolord, Abaddon got the equivalent of a lifted truck on 40″ tires and truck nuts with his new model.
- Chaos Knights make a splash on the scene with awesome new models and almost none of the weapons you actually want.
- Plaguebearers discover they peaked in Highschool. Once the prom king, they now take a few classes at the Junior College and wonder why none of the other Daemons return their phone calls.
- Despite all the change, the one thing that remains the same is that Chaos players remain in a seemingly permanent, global LARP being as bitter and jealous of the Imperium as their toy soldiers are in the stories!
- LVO update! We’re working on a base size chart and all of the fiddly stuff for the LVO including the actual rules on appearance standards and such, so just hang in there with us. Those will all be done this week.

Hey Reecius, maybe you can settle a debate for me. I’m trying to discuss the idea that 40k has a tendency for games to be decided in the first couple of turns. In my experience, it’s very hard to come back from behind, and I think a lot of players have the same feeling.
Do you have any input on the subject? I wonder if you track stuff like number of game rounds played during a game. I know ITC has rules for what happens when a player forfeits, but is the fact that they forfeited tracked? Obviously at high levels players are good enough to avoid it, but it seems like the normal player can tell when a game is over pretty quick.
Ah, that’s a good question but I only have anecdotal evidence off hand.
Yes, I think in this edition that happens a lot due to the game’s lethality. I still have a lot of close games and if you look at scores from games you see a lot of them are very close. But, I agree that when things go south early in this edition it tends to be definitive.
It’s be interesting to do an analysis of how many games have close scores vs. do not as I think you could infer from that how many blowout games you have.
With the ITC Battles app you could actually go in and see how often games are decided early game.
The average game score in 40k is 29 – 15 since LVO last year. It has not had much movement throughout the season.
