Battleforces: Why You Need One (or Four!)

Battleforces. Aren’t they just wonderful? There’s something primordially satisfying about opening up a massive box with loads and loads of Warhammer inside – a deep, lizard-brain thrill at looking at reams of glorious sprues all in one place.

This was originally published on the Warhammer-community site. Also, these always sell out so if you want one make sure to get your order in to the Forntline Gaming web-cart right when they come out!

This holiday season, we’re bringing you a host of new Battleforce sets to make bolstering your armies, starting new ones or getting gifts for friends simple.

We could obviously never pick favourites, but there are a few that we think deserve a closer look, starting with…

Gloomspite Gitz: Caveshroom Loons

Back at the beginning of this year, the Gloomspite Gitz landed in the Mortal Realms, and Warhammer Age of Sigmar hasn’t been the same since! These anarchic little fiends (and their squiggly pals) have brought all the madness and mayhem that the Night Goblins were known for into the Mortal Realms, offering an army quite unlike any other.

The Caveshroom Loons set gives you a frankly insane force. A bouncing horde of Squig Hoppers (or Boingrot Bounderz, if you prefer) let you squig all over your enemies wherever they might hide, while Fanatics carve crazed paths through enemy lines. Meanwhile, monstrous Mangler Squigs and nigh-indestructible Rockgut Troggoths are on hand to help you crush even tougher foes!

This set is a great way to start playing Warhammer Age of Sigmar, offering a balanced selection of units, all of which are tremendously fun (and gloriously random) to play. What’s more, Gloomspite Gitz are perfect for painting with the Contrast Method, meaning you’ll have them on the tabletop in no time.

Stormcast Eternals: Exorcism Soulstrike

Looking for something more elite? The Exorcism Soulstrike is for you! This Battleforce contains a vanguard of Sacrosanct Chamber Stormcast Eternals – lightning-charged, armoured mages equally at home incinerating enemies at range as they are chopping them up with swords.

This set gives you a hefty 1,200 points of models, meaning after you throw in a big choice like a Stardrake, Gotrek or the Celestant-Prime, you’re pretty much matched play ready.

What’s more, painting a Stormcast Eternal army out of this set is easy – best grab a can of Liberator Gold while you’re at it…

Space Wolves Talons of Morkai

Space Marines, but also werewolves. Need we say more?

If you’ve ever been tempted to start a Space Wolves army, or you’re looking to make your Great Company even more gigantic, this box is a great way to do it! Throw in Start Collecting! Primaris Space Wolves and BAM – instant matched play army! Well, give or take some painting – but for that, there’s always Contrast.

Chaos Space Marines Vengeance Warband

This year has been a brilliant one for the Heretic Astartes, with new models, new rules and more. If you’re looking to start your own army of Chaos Space Marines, you don’t just have a new Start Collecting! set, but this Battleforce too. In fact, by combining the two, you’ll have the makings of a great army! The Vengeance Warband is a particularly solid box by virtue of the interchangeability of the kits within.

Knight Household Battlegroup

Adeptus Titanicus is a game of tactics, strategy and planning. Great behemoths grind and heave as massive weapons are brought to bear. Princeps carefully manage fire arcs, reactor heat, distance to enemies and countless other tactical factors in a cross between chess and piloting a battleship.

Knights, on the other hand, charge everything, smash its knees in and call it a jolly good day. This year, Doom of Molech introduced Knight Household forces to Adeptus Titanicus, allowing you to field entire armies of these mechanised crusaders in your battles.

Fast, flexible and utterly devastating up-close, they’re a fun force whether you’re looking for a change or just want to paint loads and loads of teeny mechs.

The Adeptus Titanicus Knight Household Battleforce is the perfect place to get started with Knights, giving you loads of them at a considerable saving. NICE.

Pre-order your Battleforces this weekend – if you can’t wait until then, a Start Collecting! set is the next best thing!
