GW Grognard: Getting to go to tournaments

Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, back to help free you from the shackles of adulting.

If you’re like me, you enjoy going to tournaments. Whether its a small RTT or the largest tournament in the world, its usually a fun time at a tournament. 99% of the time it is great. New friends and memories are made that will last a long time. Unfortunately, life happens and, for one reason or another, you are not able to to go. Whether its kids, work, or other obligations, it can be tough. Well today I’ll do you a favor and help you with ways to get out of what you’re doing and get to that sweet, sweet tournament. Here are a few suggestions:

This is what people think you are doing

Go to work

If you work on weekends, this is easier to do. Just tell your spouse, family, spiritual organization that you simply can’t make it because you have to be at work that day. This is easier if you have a job where you do normally work on weekends. Just simply tell them you have to work and proceed to roll dice. They shouldn’t really question it and see you as a hard working person for the betterment of your family. You look good while rolling dice and taking names. This is a bit harder if you want to go to a grand tournament. Just be sure no one can verify that you weren’t actually at work. Or be your own boss, where you can do whatever you want.

Help a friend out

This is easier to get away with if you own a truck or other utility vehicle. Just tell those that winder that you need to help a friend out. We all know that person that you ask for help because they have a truck. That person could actually be you. This allows you to really take advantage of this and lets you get away for a day or two. You’re not lying, as you will be helping your friends learn the valuable lesson of losing with dignity as you crush their armies on the way to the top. This can sometimes be a bit easier for you to go to a 2 day tournament in order to “help your friend”.

Just walk out

This last option is a bold move for most. You simply just go. Pack your stuff and head to the tournament. No need to ask permission. No need to pretend to be at work or someplace else. This straightforward approach is easy to do but hard to make that first step. After you do it the first time, it becomes much easier to do. Your friends and family will soon get used to it and not question your actions and then you are free to go to whatever tournaments you want. Just be prepared for your significant other to give you some type of ultimatum, kick you out, or change the locks. You just need to be strong and continue on while sleeping under a bridge and eating top ramen.

That’s all for this week, I hope you enjoyed the read. Let me know your thoughts, and how you get away for a tournament, in the comments section. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
