Ah, Gen Con – there’s little on Earth quite like it. Right now, we’re sharing the wonders of Warhammer with thousands of attendees at this massive festival of popular culture, tabletop gaming and all the good stuff. At our (huge) stall, we’ve got fans new and old trying new games, painting models and testing their skills in a tournament or two. If you’re here in person, come and say hi at booth 2627!
This article was originally published on the Warhammer-Community page.
Of course, Gen Con also means we’re taking the opportunity to show some awesome new stuff – that’s probably what you clicked on this article for, so let’s dive right in…
Watch the skies – a new game is landing soon.
Welcome to Aeronautica Imperialis – a new game that brings the high-velocity aerial combat of the 41st Millennium to your tabletop. Designed from the ground up to recreate the sheer speed and tactical tension of skyborne warfare, this new system is compact, fast-paced and fine-tuned – turning every tabletop dogfight into both a thrilling spectacle and a worthy test of wits.
Featuring hex-based movement and only requiring a handful of models to play, Aeronautica Imperialis is ideal for the hobbyist on the go. Regardless of your time or space, you’ll find it easy to squeeze in a game – and it’s so fun, we reckon you’ll take every opportunity to do so, whether you’re dogfighting through your lunch break, grabbing a quick game with a clubmate, or playing through epic airborne campaigns in the comfort of your own home.
In Aeronautica Imperialis, you’ll be able to unleash your inner wing commander with a brand-new range of intricate and beautiful models. These were designed by the team behind Adeptus Titanicus to recreate icons of the 41st Millennium like the Dakkajet and the Thunderbolt on a compact scale without losing charm or detail. Offering fresh new opportunities for painters and modellers, these multipart plastic models will form the foundations of a new range we’ll be supporting for years to come.
Aeronautica Imperialis will be launching with a boxed set that makes starting and learning the game simple, allowing you to dogfight your friends with the Imperial Navy and Orks. It’s no one-off, either, and you can look forward to ongoing support and expansions that bring new challenges to the game.
You won’t have long to wait until you can take off with Aeronautica Imperialis – we’ll be posting the latest news about the game on the Forge World Facebook page.
Enter the Beastgrave
You’ve explored the city of Shadespire. You’ve survived the opening of the Nightvault. Now things are about to take a deadly new turn…
This is Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave – the triumphant third season of the ultimate competitive miniatures game. We’ve taken everything you love from the previous two seasons of Warhammer Underworlds and refined it even further, giving you the definitive Warhammer Underworlds experience. Look forward to an even tighter ruleset, sharply designed game mechanics, unusual and rewarding new card design and some incredible new warbands.
Speaking of which, let’s take a look at the stars of the new Core Set – Grashrak’s Despoilers and Skaeth’s Wild Hunt.
In this season of Warhammer Underworlds, our game designers have worked closely with the miniatures team to create an incredible range of warbands we can’t wait to share with you. Take Grashrak’s Despoilers – this vicious pack of Beastmen are fast, deadly and cunning, bringing the ambushing, dark-magic slinging, horn-gouging awesomeness of the Beasts of Chaos to a brand-new game system. The models look great too, giving us the first Bestigor, Ungors and Great Bray-Shaman specifically designed for the Mortal Realms.
Meanwhile, Skaeth’s Wild Hunt offers us new insights into the Mortal Realms with our first look at the Kurnothi – aelf-like creatures with a savage style of their own. Offering a fast and highly specialised group of fighters, they’re a deadly and flexible warband capable of cutting down enemies at any range.
Beastgrave also brings us to another of the Mortal Realms’ underworlds, as the setting of the game moves to the savage depths of Ghur. The Necroquake has permanently damaged the Mirrored City, causing it to bleed into the ancient mountain known as Beastgrave.
As the curse of the Katophranes leeches into the long-dormant edifice, savage powers thought long-dead awaken, with streets of shadeglass jutting from pillars of bone and catacombs of living amber. Just as in previous Warhammer Underworlds games, you’ll discover the mysterious history of the Beastgrave in art and card text, offering you a glimpse of one of the Mortal Realms’ most fascinating locations.
We’ll be bringing you more news on what you can expect from Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave soon – make sure to follow the Warhammer Underworlds Facebook page for the latest updates.
Saurian Sportsmen
For countless years, they have waited. They have trained. They have spawned new generations of warriors, created for a single, deadly purpose – BLOOD BOWL.
The Lizardmen have returned to the gridiron – and in style! This is an auspicious spawning indeed, bringing this much-loved team to life in glorious plastic for the first time and combining the classic Lustrian aesthetics you know and love with Blood Bowl’s distinctive brand of sports-based violence.
We don’t know what we love more – those massive Saurus, adorable Chameleon Skinks, or the teeny-tiny Slann statue that acts as a turn marker for the team. In-game, Lizardmen Blood Bowl teams are highly specialised, with Skinks making for superfast ball runners and Saurus acting as a rock-hard wall of scales, muscles and fangs on the line of scrimmage.
Keep up with the latest Blood Bowl updates and find out more about the Lizardmen team by following the Blood Bowl Facebook page.

Not sure how I feel about those new Wood Elves yet, the legs put me off a bit.
Yeah, I mean…they’re definitely a long way from Athel Loren, thats for sure! I get the dryad-satyr thing they are going for, but I’ll need to see them in person first to change my initial reaction.
I guess ‘legs’ are the way to separate the elven races post-old world 🙂
