This Week in the ITC 7-25-19: Adeptus Custodes and Adeptus Mechanicus top Players

Hello, fellow Warhammer 40k fans! SaltyJohn from TFG Radio, and one of the Las Vegas Open Head Judges, here to bring you another article reviewing the ITC Standings for the 2019 season with the new scoring method in place. This week I am going to review the standings for the top Adeptus Custodes and Adeptus Mechanicus players.

Before diving into discussing the top 10 currently in the ITC and then the top 3 in the Adeptus Custodes and Adeptus Mechanicus factions I wanted to briefly talk about the loss of Geoff “iNcontrol” Robinson. I know that many of us in the hobby have seen post after post on the topic of his tragic passing and there are plenty of places to go see, read, hear about how great he was including our last episode of TFG Radio, Signals from the Frontline, NYPost, ESPN, and a plethora of Streamer personalities. I will miss his hilarious comments on articles here on Frontline Gaming and around the web. That said, the titan of competitive gaming that was Geoff Robinson is still featured in the top 10 best players in the world according to the ITC.

These players in the top 10 are really not separated by very many points at all. While Jim Vesal has held the lead for quite some time there are many players of superlative skill chasing that top rung. More than any season before I am sensing that the Las Vegas Open is going to play a huge roll in who takes the entire prize this year for the ITC. One of these players in the top 5 may, in fact, have to win the LVO just to ensure their ITC Championship as well. Time will tell of course but a runaway win isn’t likely.

The Adeptus Custodes and Adeptus Mechanicus factions are two fairly popular factions, especially Custodes. Of the two I would say that Custodes have an easier time making it as a mono-faction competitively but the top 3 players in the Mechanicus faction aren’t to be counted among the ghastly dregs of competitive players! They are players of remarkable skill and accomplishment as well.

Jeremiah Petit, Shane Watts, and Bridger Hahn have all cobbled together an impressive set of finishes with Custodes thus far this season. I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them run away with that trophy at the LVO this year. Good luck guys!

BethanyTaylor, Cyle Thompson, and Michael Sarapata are all excellent players who I have mentioned in these articles before.  Placing well with any mono-faction outside of Aeldari, Astra Militarum, Tau, Chaos Daemons, and perhaps Knights is very difficult. These three have done it with a faction that has regrettably been pushed to the side in late 8th edition, oftentimes relegated to be a CP battery of the rusty 17.  I look forward to seeing how this faction winds up at season’s end.

I will be out of town for the next two weeks so we will have to pick up my weekly ITC articles then. At which point the West Coast will have had two premier events in the books for those players. This weekends Slaughterfest in Temecula CA and two weeks after that the Hammer of Wrath GT in Pasadena CA. It will be cool to check back in on what’s happened in the ITC after a short two-week break!
