By the Emperor do we have some cool stuff to show you tonight! We’re at AdeptiCon, and the Warhammer Preview has just finished showing off loads of the hottest Warhammer reveals. We’re talking stuff like:
- Exactly what Forbidden Power means for you…
- A new (and awesome) way to battle bigger and better with your Warhammer 40,000 armies…
- One of your most-requested models, EVER, finally in plastic…
- Our first hints at a new weapon for the arsenal of every painter…
Forbidden Power
First up – just what is Forbidden Power? It’s time to find out…
Forbidden Power is a massive new expansion that kicks off the next thrilling chapter of the Soul Wars. However you play, you’ll find something in the set that’ll improve your games.
There is great and ancient power hidden in the Realms – power never meant for mortals. Long ago, in the Age of Myth, Sigmar sought to hide these forces in the Stormvaults behind magical defences with the help of Teclis. Now, the seals are breaking – and armies from every Grand Alliance seek to claim these spoils as their own. Archaic and terrible weapons, the spirits of ancient warriors, timeless relics – in Forbidden Power, you’ll join the hunt for these bygone treasures, seeking to claim them for your own.
Forbidden Power contains new endless spells usable by any army, representing the dark magics of Shyish unleashed during the Soul Wars. Sinister, deadly and tactically invaluable in the right hands, these endless spells offer enormous power – if you’re willing to pay the price…
Every army will get a chance to harness the power of the realm of Death and seek out the fell power long hidden from the realms – stay tuned for more news on Forbidden Power soon.
The Next Battletome
Earlier this year, at the Las Vegas Open, we promised you that we’d be seeing at least one new battletome for every Grand Alliance this year, and now, we can reveal the next one.
Duardin – they’re so hot right now. The forthcoming Battletome: Fyreslayers forges your army anew, with updated allegiance abilities and warscrolls, plus the ability to dedicate your army to one of the legendary Fyreslayer lodges. This book breathes new life into the Fyreslayers, offering a wider range of army compositions than ever before – from rampaging packs of Magmadroths to serried lines of magma-spewing Auric Hearthguard. Battletome: Fyreslayers also sheds new light on the history of these ur-gold-seeking mercenaries and establishes them as a major player in the unfolding narrative of the Soul Wars.
New terrain and Magmic Invocations – fiery equivalents to endless spells summoned to battle by Runemasters and Runesmiters – make your Fyreslayers even deadlier. After all, there are few problems on the battlefield that can’t be solved by a rampaging, magical salamander…
Battletome: Fyreslayers will be available soon, and we’ll be previewing it in detail closer to its release.
And More!
There’s much more on the way for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, including more battletomes and an answer to that eternal question – in a fight between trees and mushrooms, who would win?
Flora vs Fungus – It’s the epic battle you never knew you wanted to see. Place your bets on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Facebook page…
For decades, explorers have tried to break the curse of the Mirrored City using brute force, animal cunning and the arcane arts, with little success. But what about SCIENCE?
Meet Thundrik’s Profiteers – a new warband for Warhammer Underworlds that brings the advanced technology and ruthless profiteering of the Kharadron Overlords into the ultimate competitive miniatures game.
Each of Thundrik’s Profiteers embodies an aspect of the Kharadron Overlords – from the ingenuity of the Aether-Khemists to the relentless firepower of the Grundstok Thunderers.
These guys turn Warhammer Underworlds on its head with the ability to pepper their foes at range, allowing them to hold objectives while still slaying enemies. New cards and rules take everything you love about these skyborne duardin from Warhammer Age of Sigmar and converts it perfectly to Warhammer Underworlds. If you’re excited to plunder some underworlds, you won’t have long to wait – keep an eye out for more previews on these guys on the Warhammer Underworlds Facebook page.
The time has come to shed more light on the dark world of Warcry, with our first proper look at one of the game’s many warbands…
Like all Warcry warbands, the Iron Golems offer a more complex, nuanced take on Chaos than we’ve seen before. The Iron Golem miniatures combine classic Chaos aesthetics with cultural cues based on the Mortal Realm from which they originate. Hailing from the Realm of Metal, these warriors are renowned for the quality of their smithing, believing themselves chosen by Archaon himself to forge arms and armour for the Slaves to Darkness.
Warcry offers us the opportunity to explore Chaos not just as the ‘bad guys’ but as living, breathing cultures, and allows us to look at facets of Chaos rarely seen on the tabletop. The Iron Golems, for example, count not just humans among their number, but duardin and ogors.
Warcry will also let you explore the (terrifying) fauna of Chaos. Just as Gryph-hounds and Aetherwings show the sorts of creatures that dwell in Azyr, Warcry reveals an assortment of Chaos critters, including new plastic Furies and Raptoryxes – ill-tempered creatures capable of bisecting a man with a snap of their beaks.
And we’re just getting started! We’ve got more warbands and models to reveal to you yet…
But what if you’re unshakably loyal to Sigmar, Nagash or the sheer raw power of Destruction? Well, good news – at launch, 9 non-Chaos factions will be available to play with rules of their own. See if you can guess just what they are…
For Chaos fans and their foes alike, Warcry is shaping up to be an amazing game. Stay tuned for more news, right here.
We all know those legendary games – 10-a-side mega-battles that span entire weekends and involve whole gaming clubs, with Titans, demigods and hundreds of infantry duking it out in cataclysmic conflicts. But what if you could experience that epic action in almost the same amount of time it took to play a game of Warhammer 40,000? What if you could combine the vast scope and ambition of these colossal battles with a streamlined, bespoke ruleset?
It’s time to find out.
Get ready to battle bigger, better. The new Apocalypse is a ground-up reimagining of mass battles in the 41st Millennium – a totally new ruleset designed to capture the spectacular carnage, grand strategy and high drama of Warhammer 40,000’s biggest battles. With this system, you’ll be able to fight in the kinds of conflicts once confined to art and lore, brought to life on your tabletop, all in an evening after work or school.
This is a totally new game, on a new scale, giving you a new way to use your existing collection. At this size of battle, the focus is not on the actions of units, but on entire formations, with the game feeling tight and reactive even with hundreds of models on each side.
And yes, those *are* Warhammer 40,000 movement trays!
We’ll have more details on how you can get involved soon!
The Future of Warhammer 40,000
But what about Warhammer 40,000 on a more traditional scale?
With the 2nd book in the Vigilus series almost upon us (pre-order now, BTW), eyes turn to the next big thing for Warhammer 40,000 – and oh boy, have we got some good stuff coming.
Starting later this year, we’ll be exploring the myriad war zones across the 41st Millennium. The battle for Vigilus was a pivotal one, but such is the dire state of the galaxy that it is just one of the war-torn planets on which the fate of the galaxy will be decided.
This war zone has brought us Primaris Marneus Calgar, the return of the Despoiler, and a huge host of Chaos Space Marines – just think what other war zones could bring…
Do you have any skeletons in your closet?
Is this a situation familiar to you? We know that while grey plastic has its charms, the dreaded backlog can feel a bit intimidating at times. Well, worry not – soon, we’ll be adding something huge to our paint range that’s going to make painting your models even simpler. Stay tuned for more teases soon…
Event-exclusive Models
This year, those intrepid travellers who’ve made their way to AdeptiCon have had the opportunity to secure themselves our very special exclusive model – Primaris Lieutenant Amulius. In 2020, we want to reward the people that travel thousands of miles to make events like AdeptiCon awesome with not one, but two all-new event-exclusive models. These will be available first at AdeptiCon before making their way to other independent Warhammer events across the world.
This awesome Space Marine Librarian will be available at a number of events near you next year – keep an eye out for more news on where you can expect to see it, as well as the second event-exclusive miniature, which has yet to be revealed.
The date for this year’s Big Community Survey – your chance to let us know how we’re doing and influence the kind of content, rules and models we give you – has been revealed! You’ll be able to make your voice heard from the 15th of April – and this time around, we’re asking for your feedback on 3 key areas.
First up, one of the best things about the last Big Community Survey was getting your feedback on this very website! Thanks to you, we’ve been able to give you more content and more stuff you asked to see. So we’d love to learn how we’re doing and if you’ve got any more great ideas to make Warhammer-Community.com the ultimate home of Warhammer on the web.
Next, our Studio teams want to know how you’re finding our games. Got opinions on the latest codexes and battletomes? (We know you do. We’ve read Facebook.) Think your favourite army needs some tweaks? Got any stuff you particularly like that you want to share with us? Tell us, and we’ll be able to ensure the future of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar is filled with the sorts of rules you want.
Lastly, we want to make awesome events like AdeptiCon accessible to everyone. It’s been incredible to watch AdeptiCon grow, and the dedication shown by both attendees and organisers is nothing short of inspiring. We want to see more events follow in the footsteps of events like AdeptiCon, the Las Vegas Open and the NOVA Open.
We want you to let us know where you’re based and what events you want to see in your area, and we’ll be able to coordinate with local organisers to bring you top-tier tournaments, cracking conventions and more. Who knows – your hometown could one day be home to an event as legendary as this one!
Last time we ran the Big Community Survey, loads of you asked for plastic Sisters of Battle – so this year, we’re giving you some! A selection of lucky fans who participate in this year’s Big Community Survey will win some fabulous prizes. 10 entrants will receive a squad of Battle Sisters, while one lucky winner will be receiving a whole Adepta Sororitas army – yes, the new ones! So, if having the chance to fundamentally shape the future of Warhammer forever isn’t enough, you might even get some free stuff while you’re at it.
And before you go and ask for a plastic you-know-what, you might want to keep scrolling…
Rumours of the Dark Prince’s death have been greatly exaggerated…
Your eyes do not deceive you. A host of gorgeous new models kick off a new era for the Dark Prince, including an all-new Keeper of Secrets.
We’ve come a long way since the Keeper of Secrets first graced the worlds of Warhammer in Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness. At once monstrous and beautiful, the new Keeper of Secrets is one of the most striking and unusual Warhammer miniatures ever designed. Drawing on decades of art and lore, this model manages the nigh-impossible task of creating a creature that’s both terrifying and alluring. Sinuous, elegant and predatory, it’s the epitome of everything fans love about Slaanesh. Tempted? We don’t blame you.
The Keeper of Secrets will be joined by a number of new Slaanesh models that bring to life a magnificent and richly realised cast of Daemon champions, from a new iteration of the Masque to Syll’Esske – an unholy tag team of Daemon Prince and Herald.
With so much new stuff for Slaanesh on the way, it’s only fitting that the Dark Prince and his followers should receive a new battletome. With allegiance abilities for the three hosts of Slaanesh – the Invaders, Godseekers and Pretenders – as well as updated warscrolls, spell lores and more, Battletome: Hedonites of Slaanesh will cement these warriors of excess as a major player in both the setting of Warhammer Age of Sigmar and on the tabletop.
And, of course, what would a new battletome be without endless spells?
And that’s it from the Warhammer Preview at AdeptiCon this year! Let us know what you’re looking forward to most on the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar Facebook pages, and make sure to subscribe to our newsletter – we’ve got even more news on the way, and we wouldn’t want you to miss any of it.
And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart!
Alright, let’s get the negative s**t out of the way: I hate event exclusive models because they always just end up on eBay for 500% of the original cost.
That being said omg GW’s new stuff is insane, that Keeper
I am excited for the biggest Slaanesh release in a decade (plastics were like 2008? 2009?). My worry is the 40k rules for the KoS. Like most Monsterous Creatures in 8th, none of Greater Daemons are in a healthy spot competitively. I don’t want to buy another model that goes directly to my shelf.
Syll’Esske looks interesting. He is like the older 3rd edition Daemon Princes that weren’t monstrous creatures (it was an upgrade to make them MC).
That Keeper of Secrets is absolutely stunning.
Finally, plastic sisters.
