Will Any GSC stuff be forth coming? Seam’s to have been forgotten because of LVO. Was looking forward to the incites.
Yeah, I am sure we will get to it, just had a lot of high priority stuff to cover.
I am planning to put together some articles on them in the near future.
New scoring is great, I got a lot more points for an 84 player major i finished 4th in vs a 20 person RTT I finished 1st in which makes sense!
p.s I didn’t fly down for the tournament, was in town for a work conference!
“p.s I didn’t fly down for the tournament, was in town for a work conference!”
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure 😉
Yeah, that is where the biggest difference in scoring will be evident. And, as you noted, it feels like a better fit.
I like the score changes. I got 4th place in a 19 person RTT and got some decent points to show for it. Before the change, it was the mentality of “I didn’t get in top 3 this event didn’t matter for points”.
Yeah, the results now will feel a lot more intuitively accurate I think.
Are the formulas for how it’s calculated available anywhere? I looked over the ITC pages, but couldn’t find references (except in passing.)
The BCP guys did the heavy lifting on the math and asked to keep it under wraps as a trade secret. As I only had feedback on the output and not the creation of it, I agreed.
Many video game companies do the same thing with the exact math of their scoring formulas.
They are building a calculator though, that will show players how many points an event can get them to help offset the lack of transparency. As things have grown and changed they felt it was the right call to protect themselves and their investment in BCP as well as to avoid folks trying to game the system.
