Battletome: Gloomspite Gitz is almost upon us, and in the third of our in-depth previews, we’re taking a look at the warscrolls!
This article was originally published on the Warhammer-community page.
While you may be familiar with a lot of the Gloomspite Gitz units, there are loads of new and updated warscrolls in the battletome for you to get your claws into. We’ve picked five standouts to whet your appetite for new rules…
Troggoths are getting their very own Hero unit, and he’s a Monster –figuratively and literally!
This guy is just as powerful as he looks – just check out his boulder club:
This weapon will allow you to shatter even the toughest enemies with ease! Defensively, the Dankhold Troggboss is pretty tough too, boasting an impressive resistance to magic:
He’s even got his very own command ability:
This guy unlocks Rockgut Troggoths and Fellwater Troggoths as Battleline, allowing you to field a super-elite Gloomspite Gitz army made up purely of these brutes – a thematic and powerful option indeed.
Fanatics have long been a favourite unit in many grot fan’s tactical toolbox – there’s nothing quite like revealing that the seemingly vulnerable unit of Shootas is in fact packed with fungus-fuelled berserkers. These Fanatics –or Loonsmasha Fanatics, to give them their full title – are still brilliant, but their kit-siblings are just as useful. Sporesplatta Fanatics don’t hide inside your units – instead, they’ll shield your units from fire with choking clouds of spores:
Meanwhile, their Puffshroom Frenzy ability helps to empower your nearby units:
For a mere handful of points, a unit of Sporesplatta Fanatics is a must-have support unit in a Gloomspite Gitz army.
What steeds could suit the most kunnin’ Loonbosses more than a pair of Mangler Squigs? This new Hero option for Gloomspite Gitz armies gives you a Monster-mounted champion that’s more than a match for the toughest Leaders of other factions.
The Loonboss on Mangler Squigs isn’t just a brutal combatant, though, he’s also the perfect commander for an army of squig cavalry, unlocking Squig Hoppers as Battleline and offering them a boost in power from the Bite Da Moon! command ability:
In short, if you love Squigs, this is the Leader for you.
The grot equivalent of knights, Boingrot Bounderz are armoured squig cavalry who specialise in breaking enemy lines. These guys are absurdly deadly on the charge – a unit of 10 will throw out 40 attacks, hitting on a 4+ and wounding on a 3+ with a Rend of -1, dealing a deluge of mortal wounds while they’re at it. 2 Wounds and a 4+ save make them pretty durable, too!
You’re spoiled for choice when picking leaders for your Gloomspite Gitz army, but Skragrott, the Loonking, a new Unique Hero, makes for a particularly awesome choice. This guy lets you control the passage of the Bad Moon (the key allegiance ability for the Gloomspite Gitz), as well as granting you loads of extra command points at random:
Where Skragrott really shines is with his Nikkit! Nikkit! spell. This allows you to negate enemy magic items, making it great for weakening enemy Leaders.
