WOWOW, some awesome new models on the way!
The original and full article was published on the Warhammer-community site.
Finally, for our last official miniature reveal of the event, we’ve got a very interesting Genestealer Cults model. This chap will help you plan your assaults and features an easter egg that some particularly sharp-eyed Rumour Engine fans might have already spotted…
See it yet? We’ll give you a hand…
Yep – he’s planning to infiltrate somewhere that looks very much like Warhammer World itself! Looks like he’s planning a visit.
Thanks for joining us for an incredible day, whether you’ve been here at the Open Day in person, or you’ve been following along online.
If you fancy joining us for the next Warhammer World Open Day, tickets for the New Years Open Day, on January 5th, go on sale Monday. We hope to see you there!
It’s been an incredible year for long-time Warhammer fans – who’d have thought we’d ever see another Squat, or plastic Rogue Traders? – and it’s about to get even better. Here’s the news, courtesy of Warhammer 40,000-themed band Deep Strike:
Your eyes and ears have not deceived you. That was, indeed, a Noise Marine on a bright green flock base – reborn for a new generation. Seriously, get a good look:
This special celebratory miniature is based on Jes Goodwin’s original sketches and classic Noise Marine models, and will be on shelves in time for Christmas.
Warhammer 40,000 is about to kick into high gear. Over the past few months, the board has been set, with a comprehensively updated set of codexes, not to mention some incredible new models. Now, the next phase can begin, and it begins on Vigilus.
At the Vigilus Weekender, fans are getting their first glimpse at what the future holds. If you’re not with us at Warhammer World today, don’t worry! We’re rounding up all the major reveals right here. From the rebirth of Warhammer 40,000’s most iconic Space Marine to a new full-sized Battle Titan, it’s a big one, so we’ll jump right in…
Over the past year, one planet has taken centre stage in the Warhammer 40,000 narrative – Vigilus. Everything this year – Kill Team, Speed Freeks, Tooth and Claw – has been setting the stage for a climactic conflict upon this beleaguered world – and now, the War of Beasts has begun.
With the Imperium on the brink of breaking, one man has been sent to hold back the tide.
Marneus Calgar is the original and perhaps most iconic Space Marine character, having been with us in one form or another since the very first edition – so it’s only fitting that this venerable hero is the first to be reborn as a Primaris Space Marine. This incredible new model combines the modern aesthetic of the Primaris Marines with the classic elements of the venerable character.
Rules for Marneus Calgar – and more – can found in Vigilus Defiant, a new campaign book that puts you at the heart of the latest epic conflict:
Vigilus Defiant takes everything you love about campaign books and uses it to bring to life the latest thrilling chapter in the unfolding saga of the Dark Imperium. Take the depth, texture and detail of the Horus Heresy campaign books, add themed armies and narrative battling inspired by classics like Codex: Armageddon, throw in an epic story that will change the face of the galaxy and you’ve got Vigilus Defiant.
Calgar won’t be retaking Vigilus without a fight. After Orks, Aeldari and the Genestealer Cults have all but shattered the defences of the planet, the herald of a new doom descends…
The Black Legion have come to Vigilus – led by the sinister herald known as Haarken Worldclaimer. This new champion of the Dark Gods has declared that the world of Vigilus will fall to the Warmaster, within 80 days…
Running campaigns is one of the most rewarding ways to play Warhammer 40,000 – and it’s about to get easier. Map out your hive city – then conquer it!
This new campaign system is designed to make modular, map-based campaigns fun to play and simple to run, allowing you to build your very own urban battlemaps then fight for supremacy in interlinked battles with your friends. You won’t just be battling to defeat your opponents but also to capture strategic resources and manage your overall strategy.
Urban Conquest is perfect for gaming groups and clubs looking to add an extra dimension to their battles – keep an eye out for more news on what the set means for you in the new year.
Chaos Space Marines aren’t the only threat lurking on Vigilus – the time for a new uprising from those who dwell below is nigh…
The Genestealer Cults are coming – and it looks like they’ve been busy scrounging, scavenging and repurposing the works of the Imperium for their own nefarious purposes…
And don’t worry–- we haven’t forgotten about your codex. You’re next.
We weren’t kidding when we said we had a LOT to reveal today! Wrath and Rapture has already set the internet aflame – and that was just the Fiends of Slaanesh! Having shown off more models a few weeks ago at the Blood & Glory Studio Preview, we can finally take a look at some of the most exciting miniatures from the set, such as the new Herald of Slaanesh and Karanak.
We’re particularly excited about the reimagining of Khorne’s most faithful hunting hound – look out Wizards, Karanak’s back!
Warhound. Reaver. Warlord. These are names that mean something special to Warhammer fans – the iconic god-machines that most of us, on some level, would love to own one day. Titans are the most eye-catching and impressive models in Warhammer 40,000 – seeing one in person is an inspiring experience. Which is why we’re incredibly excited to announce that a new, full-sized Titan is marching to war. Meet the Warbringer:
The Warbringer Nemesis Titan is a new class of god-machine armed with an artillery piece capable of transforming your chosen grid coordinates into a white-hot crater. This massive engine of destruction has been designed to look right at home alongside its brethren. It is our most detailed yet, with a crewed upper deck featuring a spotter, a loader and a massive, revolver-style loading mechanism for the main gun:
The Warbringer will be available very soon – subscribe to the Forge World newsletter, and we’ll email you when you can buy your own.
Finally, fans at the Open Day have had the chance to find out more about Chapter Approved 2018 for themselves, as well as talking to the team behind this essential guide for gamers.
For those of you not at the Open Day, here are some tidbits we’ve learned…
It’ll let you customise your characters more than ever before!
Chapter Approved 2018 features a new character creation system for open play where you can build your very own legendary heroes. If you’re feeling creative, this year’s edition is going to be great for you.
…and your units!
One of the takeaways from the narrative play section was Battle Honours – a system that lets your units level up and develop new skills throughout campaigns.
It’s good news for the Grey Knights
Matched play fans have been scrutinising the new points from the book, and it’s clear at this point that one massive winner is the Grey Knights, who have seen sweeping points reductions across a swathe of units.
The Adepta Sororitas are back – and better than ever
Of course, Codex: Adepta Sororitas is one of the most exciting things about Chapter Approved this year, and we’ve had a chance to get an even better look at the rules. We’ll be previewing these in depth soon, but in the meantime, here’s another awesome Stratagem to tide you over:
Excited by these reveals? Well, we’ve got a couple more up our sleeve for later today, so keep checking back! To make sure you don’t miss any, make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram…
And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart!
GSC Models are actually insane and I can only hope they have rules as cool as they are.
I’m so stoked for this! My poor bank account… 😉
So, does a combi weapon fulfill 2/3 of holy trinity?
Nope. For each entry there, it specifies that it needs to be another Model firing a Weapon of that type.
Slaanesh definitelly won in the new models department. That harp herald looks SO GOOD.
The khorne dogs being painted full red face+”face wings” look so bad to me.
These new models are amazing.
The new Cult models look amazing! Cannot wait to add them to my force.
Yeah, so good. I am most pumped about the Chaos Lord, personally. He looks amazing.
