How soon can you spill your guts on Orks?
We need them.
Haha, I understand the anticipation =)
I can’t say anything that isn’t posted on the Community site as a general rule of thumb. However, once the book goes up for pre-order the flood gates can open!
I think the biggest problem with soups comes from the fact that they have a big gap of advantadges over pure armies. Even if you don’t take variety (of stratagems and troups) to account, take relics for instance: if you play a 3 detachment soup, you can get 4 relics for 3 cps, while a pure army will have just 3 for the same ammount, and relics usually bring high value modifiers to your models (specially when you can pick from 3 different codexes).
Pure armies could use some minor extra to reduce the gap. For instance, giving a free extra relic/warlord trait/cp/whatever for every detachment that shares the faction keyword with your warlord’s detachment. That way, soups will still have a bigger potential and variety over pure (as I think gw wants), but there will be a little push-up for the pure army.
There’s a big chunk (or at least just a chunk) of the community who dislikes the soup idea, and will never play anything but a pure list. Reward those loyal spirits with something, they really deserve it for proving their love to their faction!
Another thing I would like to see from gw is to stop trying to “control the narration” around the term “soup”. Every time I read those “soup off the menu!” and similars, referring to the battle brothers rule, I feel like they’re making a fool out of me. The “narration” of the term is already done, and it will probably persist for long. The more they insist on redirecting the term, the longer and more pejorative it will become.
I hope Reece realizes that he’s built the Ork release up so much that if the codex doesn’t give everyone an invulnerable save in combat, army wide feel no pain, let everyone ignore to hit modifiers, cure at least four kinds of cancer, and pleasure you under the table while you play, then every ork player on the internet is going to be out for his blood.
Actually no. He’s said “But maybe I’m wrong, we’ll see” or something like that this time. He’s learned from the past somewhat.
Lol, they’ll have to get in line behind the angry T’au players =p
Jokes aside, I think it’s an awesome dex, but we’ll see how the community reacts to it. I hope everyone likes it as much as I do!
I think the best fix for the game at large, and namely for the none human factions, would be to make it so you have to pick a primary detachment. The primary detachment is the only detachment that can use stratagems and give CP to your army. Maybe at best get half CP from other faction detachments?
Otherwise we’ll also see the guard brought only for CP battery and guard faction itself will get hammered with nerfs until they are useless only on the virtue of the fact that they are so good at bringing CP.
I agree with your sentiments on soup in principle for sure. And I also agree that a good attitude is more constructive than a poor one.
That being said, BA have been knee-capped twice now. Once, because of Flyrants, and then again just because of the captain. BA assault elements are now hilariously overcosted, especially with weapons like IK gatling cannons and disintegrators so prevalent.
Bobby G is good, but power armor in general is bad. Really bad.
P.S. I do hope the Orks are good to shake up the meta some.
