Hey everyone! Adam, from TFG Radio, here to raise up the hype machine!
As everyone knows, Games Workshop has, within the last few years, begun reaching out to the wider world. Reactivating their Facebook accounts, creating new content that includes those they once served cease and desist orders to, and getting feedback not just on how they are doing, but on how you want the game played. For those that remember, these current times are a reminder of days past when Games Workshop was involved in the community, running events, and even ask the community’s opinion on possible rules for future editions. They even started doing FAQs at a regular pace, although not always in an expedient manner. As we approach the next big FAQ many of you need to embrace the gift that Tzeentch brings, change.
As I have always touted, I have been playing in tournaments for a long time. Whether it is Games Workshop, the INAT, or ITC, there have always been someone to provide a FAQ for the game. Even when Games Workshop did put out FAQs, some places still put out their own due to some questions or circumstances falling through the cracks. As you begin to play in more and more tournaments, you start to see units, models, and sometimes even armies, begin to change in their effectiveness, both good and bad. Now there has been many people over the years that decried the fact that they sometimes HAD to buy new models, or even whole new armies, in order to be competitive on the tournament scene. People quickly learned that the beast that is competitive 40K is one that is constantly evolving and changing. Even knowing this, due to the long lag time between army books, you were still able to stay with one army, for the most part.
As we come to the next big FAQ, it’s important to keep it in mind. Due to Games Workshop’s active interest in all aspects of the game, there is more interest on how their game is played and viewed in all forms of media. This extra scrutiny has resulted in a more involved FAQ from them. The new schedule for codex FAQ and general FAQs means we will see, and have seen, a lot of changes with some rules being changes before we even get the book *cough Space Wolves*. It especially hits hard those that abuse some of the loopholes and points efficient units, and are generally the cause for some of the adjustments that are made. So if you are one of those abusing a certain rules interpretation, or spamming certain units, be prepared to sell off those excess models or to make adjustments to your lists when the new point levels are announced. Always be prepared for the nerf bat to hit your favorite units and you won’t be disappointed. Except Imperial Knights, they’ll never touch my precious Imperial Knights.
That’s all for this week, I hope you enjoyed the read. Let me know your thoughts, and what you think will happen in the upcoming FAQ, in the comments section. Don’t forget to visit our Facebook, Twitch, and Patreon pages to stay up to date on what we’re up to and when episodes drop!
