Team USA Wins the ETC!

Let freedom ring!

In an outstanding performance, going 6-0 (which to my knowledge has never been done before) Team USA brings home the gold from the European Team Championship!

This is the first time Team USA has won this international event. Previously we’d only ever risen to a 3rd place finish, but this year we went all the way! We also took down Team Poland in round 3, whom we’d never beaten and who have won the ETC numerous times and is typically the favorite going in to the event.

This is a victory not only for our boys on Team USA, not only for our country but for freedom! USA! USA! USA!

So far in 2018 the USA wins not only the London GT Open (Mike Brandt) and Invite (Geoff “iNcontroL” Robinson) but also the ETC! We’re on a roll, baby!

MURICA!

Let’s hear it for our team! We’re proud of you, boys!

Also, special shout-out to Pellon of Team Spain who in the heat of battle decided to take the high road and conduct himself as gentlemen, resolving a tough issue like true sportsmen. You did yourself and your country proud, sir!

More information to come but as to be expected, Team USA is out celebrating sweet victory in beautiful Croatia. Have fun, fellas!

  1. Congratulations on the win. Well deserved.

I was watching the last game. As a spanish player, I’m proud of Pellon’s sportsmanship. That’s how a game has to go: both players were nice, had fun, and enjoyed the game, while giving their best to win the game. That’s well-understood competition.

    1. I can confirm that this is not the case (I am an ETC ref and know the Polish team amongst others well).

Some players are no longer present as over the last years teams have made good headway self regulating, removing bad sports and players who stretch fair play.

Some have indeed quit but others such as Typhus (Piotr, ex Polish Captain) have decided the Ref job was too much fun and joined our team 🙂

This was a true USA win, a great team who all conducted themselves well and were a pleasure to ref (even when a little stressed in the round v Russia).

USA and Scotland were in the group just behind Denmark with one less sports vote, and Scots won the paint award.

The top 3 were all great examples of exactly what the ETC is all about and what all teams should aspire to emulate.

The good guys really won this year.

        1. No problemo!

Its important we shout about three teams smashing it with high quality fair play, some of the best sports scores in the arena and 2/3 in the 4 teams nominated for the paint award.

As important as the exposure of players who don’t play like gentlemen.

So well done USA for the gaming win, Denmark for sports and Scotland for paint, see you guys next year in Novi Sad!

  2. If I read the lists correctly, Tony took a Castellan with the House Raven trait (to get the reroll 1s strat getting fed by all the CP) but it was an Auxiliary Super Heavy Detachment. Was that possible in ETC format?

    1. Under ETC rules, although having a SH Auxiliary you do not gain the benefits of the House USR (i.e for Raven, Advance and shoot) you retain the house keyword.

SH Auxiliary still gives access to stratagems.
