Greetings from GenCon! We’ve dispatched a crack Warhammer Community team to the world’s longest-running gaming convention to check out a whole host of Warhammer boxed sets, board games and other cool stuff from our licensed partners – coming soon to a games night near you!
If you’re in Indy, come say hi! We’re at booth 2619 and we’ve got SO MUCH cool stuff to show you. If you’re not, don’t worry – we’ve condensed the main bits down for you. Read on for the latest reveals…
Boxed sets are brilliant, gathering all the rules, models and other gubbins you need to play in one handy package, not to mention the satisfaction of opening a really big box of Warhammer.
At GenCon, we’ve cracked open two upcoming boxed sets for a closer look at what you’ll find inside Adeptus Titanicus and the Battle for Pelennor Fields. You might have seen some of these contents before, but if you’re at GenCon and fancy coming face to face with a teeny Titan or Théoden rendered in glorious plastic then pop down to our stall!
At GenCon, we got a chance to check out some new games from our trusted partners. The worlds of Warhammer are vast and rich, and teaming up with other publishers allows us to bring you even more ways to explore them – starting with…
Dice Masters: Battle For Ultramar
Dice! Aren’t they wonderful? There’s something undeniably satisfying about throwing cubes at tables – it’s hard to imagine just what Warhammer would be like without them. Dice Masters is a system designed by our friends at WizKids where dice are king – or, in our case, God-Emperor. In Dice Masters: Battle for Ultramar, WizKids bring this iconic dice-building battler to the world of Warhammer 40,000, allowing you to build a team of your favourite Ultramarines and Death Guard heroes.
These dice will be available in a Campaign Box – packed with cards, dice and characters for your games, it also doubles as a carry case for transporting your forces to your next game.
What if dying in a game didn’t mean loss, but was, in fact, the only way to win? Throw in some furious Slayers, plenty of horrible monsters from the world-that-was and up to five friends and you’ve got Doomseeker – a new card game where you’ll seek an appropriately glorious death armed with little more than a red mohawk, stripy shorts and a massive axe.
Here are the developers, Ninja Division, with more info:
Ninja Division are proud to announce the launch of Warhammer®: Doomseeker™ at this year’s GenCon! Doomseeker is a brutal game for 2-6 players in which each player assumes the role of a Slayer, a dwarf who has taken the Slayer’s Oath. To seek out and die a glorious death. During the game, players take turns gaining renown by defeating terrible foes. When all the Slayers have fallen, or there are no more dooms to fight, the game ends and the player with the most renown has won! Wager your fate, gather powerful treasure to aid your battles, and meet your doom!
Thanks, chaps – the certainty of one’s own mortality has never sounded so fun.
Trading card gaming comes to Warhammer with a Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions – a game where a team of your favourite heroes from the Mortal Realms battle against your foes.
GenCon attendees are among the first to get their hands on Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions, but if you’re not in Indianapolis this week, you can pick up your first deck this weekend from your nearest Warhammer or Games Workshop store, as well as participating retailers, and you can read more about Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions in our preview.

It’s high time that Gretchin got a game of their own – which is why we jumped at the opportunity to bring you just that in Gretchinz. This game has been out for a little while now, and we think it’s well worth a look. Crazy races between diminutive greenskinz? Sign us up!
New Warhammer Board Games
As anyone who has fond memories of Heroquest can attest to, Games Workshop has a long and proud history of board games. Truth is, we love them – the worlds of Warhammer are enormous, and new board games allow us to explore them in new ways, introduce new audiences and have some fun in the process!
At GenCon, we’ve been getting a closer look at three brand new board games coming to the US, Canada and Germany soon.
Space Marine Adventures is a cooperative game for up to four players that pits a team of Adeptus Astartes (controlled by you!) against the perils of a Necron labyrinth. By working together, you’ll be able to combine your unique strengths and wargear to conquer the Necrons and complete your adventure.
With push fit models and fast-paced, easy-to-learn gameplay, this game is great for players looking for something easy to set up and play, or for those with friends or kids who have yet to explore the 41st Millennium.

Blitz Bowl is designed to boil down everything you love about Blood Bowl into a tightly focused experience that’s both a great way to introduce rookies and a fun alternative for seasoned veterans.
Once you’ve mastered the Human and Orc teams in the set, you’ll be able to expand your game with Skaven, Dwarf, Elven Union, Goblin, and Chaos teams, offering loads of replay value. In short, it’s got everything you like about Blood Bowl in a bite-sized package.

The quest of the Ring-bearer – a tale of sacrifice, nobility and unlikely alliances, where Man, Hobbit, Dwarf and Elf came together to forge an unshakeable fellowship and annihilate evil.
The Quest to Mount Doom is a board game that takes a different perspective, casting this epic tale of fraternity as a fast-paced race to be the first to destroy the One Ring. Oh, and Sauron is still looking for you. This could be tricky…

There’s one more ultra-secret tabletop game from a mysterious licensed partner still to announce from GenCon. We can’t tell you anything just yet, but keep your eyes peeled here later this evening – this is a reveal you won’t want to miss…
