Kill Team: The Writhing Shadow – Tyranids Starter Set
Tyranid vanguard organisms are often stealthy, and invariably lethal. When a string of strange disappearances and bloody murders led across the Nachmund Sector towards the planet of Vigilus, it was not long before an Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos suspected such creatures’ involvement…
Kill Team: Drop Force Imperator – Astra Militarum Starter Set
Few amongst the Tempestus Scions can match the exploits of the exemplary Zetic Tigers. Several regiments of these decorated killers have gone to war on the world of Vigilus, forming teams like Drop Force Imperator to respond rapidly to the many threats the Imperium faces there.

Alright, is this really how it works?
From a dedicated melee unit’s PoV
Turn 1. Move+advance(hopefully roll well)
Turn 2. Charge (hopefully not fail). Soak overwatch (hopefully not die). Fail to kill (very likelly: fail to hit(with all those minuses), to wound, he makes the save or just gets a flesh wound).
Turn 3. You win the initiative – you must move first. Your dedicated melee unit can just stand there. The opponent retreats. So basically your melee unit skips this entire turn.
Turn 4. You lose the initiative. The opponent retreats even further, meaning he’s now 12” away from you, so you have to move+advance again(hopefully you roll well)
Turn 5. You can finally try to charge again…
“But man, he can’t shoot for the turn he retreated”
So, just like the dedicated melee unit who can’t do anything either. Shouldn’t taking the risk of: advancing, charging and overwatch be worth something and not “breaking even”?
They just need to add a “grapple” thing if you start your movement phase in close combat. Makes your opponent do a test to retreat
By the way, this is not “melee is terrible in kill team” this is “wow this feels bad to play when this happens”.
