A Scrub’s Journey to Greatness: My finalized(ish) list, fight me!

After months of wishy washy talks of meditation, personal devellopement, and list testing, I’m finally down to two candidate lists that I’ll be playing through the end of this ITC season, let’s see how far I can go with this!

Hey guys and girls, BigVik here, and low and behold my Blood Angels list had the problems I was thinking it might, so we’re onto the next cool thing! I’ve finalized my list down to two possibilities

Both lists are pretty similar in what they are designed to do, but with some pretty different execution mentalities behind them, so we’re going to look at each list, and say what each does. Afterwards I’ll ask for feedback from you guys to see what we all feel are good and bad match-ups for each list, and which one you think I should grind out, or changes you propose as I move forward as the year goes on!

Costodes

3x Sentinel w/ multi-laser

HEAVY SUPPORT

3x Heavy Weapon Teams w/ 3 Mortars each

Outrider Detachment (Adeptus Custodes)

Vexillus Praetor w/ Misercordia, Vexilla Magnifica

FAST ATTACK

3x 3 Vertus Praetors

CPs: 15

This list can mulch a LOT of infantry. It’s got lasguns, mortars, hurricane bolters, it’s got it all! The list is also meant to be fast, aggressive, and good at the objective game. This list’s weaknesses in my eyes is its seeming inability to deal with really big target spam like Bash Bros (double Chaos Primarchs), Imperial Knights (Gallant spam anyone?), or maybe Eldar/Dark Eldar flyer spam, though the Jetbikes can still assault the planes, so I feel this is somewhat mitigated.

Knights

Battalion Detachment (on the fence still)

HQ

Company Commander, 1 w/ warlord: Grand Strategist, Kurov’s Aquila, both w/ boltgun

2x Primaris Psyker

TROOPS

3x Infantry Squad, each w/ mortar

ELITE

2x Astropath

2x Officer of the Fleet

FLYERS

Squadron of 2 Vulture Gunships each w/ twin punisher cannon, heavy bolter

Vanguard Detachment (Adeptus Custodes)

ELITE

3x Culexus Assassin

Super Heavy Detachment (House Terryn, kind of on the fence here, though)

LORDS OF WAR

3x Knight Gallant

Points: 2000

CPs: 11

These guys are just fun. This list is a threat overload list, built to deliver a gallant into your lines top of turn 1, though it doesn’t have a great chance of going first. I’ve got over 80 shots to take down your bubble wrap, then sling a Gallant into your lines to just go ham inside your army and make a merry mess of things! If my opponent can deal with this, I’m nice and properly screwed.

Both lists have at least one Culexus, since I’m assuming that there will be an abundance of brotherhood of psykers in the coming months, as well as their ability to LIVE!! in the strangest of situations. I’m tending toward the Custodes List, since it seems to be built better to go into objective based mission, but DEM KNIGHTS BE CALLIN’ ME!

Well I’m off to start testing both of these lists and to figure out the pros and cons of each, if you have an opinion about how my lists might work, or if you think they might have a particular hard match up, post in the comments!
