Does House Mortan also reroll hits in CC like House Krast? Or do they just get +1 to hit? I’m seeing different things in different places.
House Mortan is +1 to hit.
Alright! That makes more sense! Damn, that’s a tough decision then. Krast’s rerolls are probably a little better most of the time than the +1, and they get Machine Surgent Respirit (Best strat ever!), but their shooting is less versatile than Mortan w/ the ignore modifier stratagem. Mortan also gets the -1 to hit WL trait…
Tough decision! The balance between subfactions is very good in this codex.
Yeah, agreed. It’s always good when it is hard to choose what to take =)
A single character knight for 450 points plus household rule , warlord trait and overpowered relic weapon. The close combat ones are even cheaper. U can fit one or two without problem in any imperium army.
I wonder if they FAQ the point cost of other overpriced and lot weaker Lords of War units. Stompas, Gorkonauts and Morkonauts will be buffed for 100 percent in the ork codex.
Well, we shall see, soon! GW announced the Ork dex on the way.
What do you guys think of the old favourite Knight allies; Tempestus Scions? Cheapish Battalion, can deep strike for objectives and easy to hide small units to protect kill points?
What do you guys think of the old favourite Knight ally; Tempestus Scions? Cheapish battalion for CP, can deep strike for objectives and small units to hide to protect kill points.
I think that is a great ally as you can just wait a turn to come in turn 2 and swoop up objectives. My knights are actually painted to match my Scion army! May just go that route, myself. Kind of on the fence though, keep thinking how good the Knights could be with AdMech.
The thing about Admech is that it sort of locks you into Questor Mechanicus houses–at least to get the most out of it. That’s not necessarily bad, but Hawkshroud, Terryn, and Mortan are all crazy good.
I’m going to slap some Anvil Industry Sallet heads on some Cadians for my Mortan men-at-arms IG battalions. It’s gonna be sick.
Yeah, good points. It’s a tough choice! I like that, though.
I am torn between fearless conscripts for objectives and screening (Valhalla), deep striking infantry for attacking and objectives (scions) and sniper infantry+repair skills (AdMech). They all seem awesome.
What do you think of Tallarn to keep pace (-ish) with the knights? I’m trying to decide what regiment to run with my knights.
I want to run an Errant as my warlord with the 2+/4++ relic/trait, a Crusader with all the guns and the -1 to hit trait, and a Gallant. All Mortan.
I’m really stuck with what to run in my guard detachments, though.
I think that would be solid. Hell, you could even take an outflanking Shadowsword, too, lol!
. . . You could sally forth a knight and outflank a shadowsword.
CREEEEEED!
Yeah, savage! lol
Everything I hear about Knights makes them sound very tough to face for a Harlequin army, even while spamming Fusion Pistols. Knights simply have the firepower to crush the transports and the melee to finish a squad inside.
Taking an allied Black Heart detachment (that many consider standard now) is almost required to deal with some of those stratagems. Thankfully a pure knight list won’t be able to use too many of those.
Fusion pistols, baby! Fusion pistols. You will WRECK knights with those. Plus, having an invul save in melee is so good vs. Knights.
Mmm. Fusion Pistols, as Reece notes, are _really_ dangerous for Knights- especially in the numbers that Harlequins can bring them in. And while your guys may not enjoy getting danced on by a Knight (twelve attacks is a lot, even with invulns), Knights don’t like models with strong melee attacks hitting them, either- those S5 AP-2 hits rerolling wounds will do a lot of damage, especially when two or three squads gang up on one Knight.
The boost to Haywire shouldn’t be underestimated either. Skyweavers are a lot harder to take down the Scourges.
Yeah, Haywire on the Skyweavers and Voidweavers is no joke- big units really don’t like mortal wounds.
Good point, AP. Just the Kisses and such will be good vs. Knights.
I miss Knights costing a number of points that fits squarely into the standard game size. 4 knights at 1500 and 5 at 1850 was zen.
TRANSCRIPTS!!!!
I know videos are all the rage, but man just running it through dragon speech or something would be valuable to me.
+1
Although a Codex review is always welcome I found your format hard to focus on. Simply reading through a Codex with a few interactions isn’t good tv. I paused watching a few times and half-way through gave up.
Compared to the professional Warhammer Tv 3 phase special of lore / tactics hour / knight vs knight battle report; I found your attempt lacking. I had also watched the Tabletop Tactics 15 minutes focussed Codex review and Battle Report vs Mortarion and Nurgle. That was better at prepping my notice and pre-ordering the Codex.
I honestly thought the castle and knight were there in front of you to demonstrate the new stratagems. But you never used them.
Many other podcasts have made the same errors of thinking they have to read everything to us. They continue to have low numbers of viewers.
I usually don’t dump salty tears in the comments section, but..
I have a single Knight crusader I bought as part of my 7th Ed War Con formation. When ForgeBane came out, I snatched it up for the Armigers to run with the Crusader in a Super Heavy Detatchment. They haven’t been good on the table but the points drop will help. Not only do I have to buy 2 more Knights to use the relics/strategems but I don’t even get CPs for running the 2 armigers and Knight in a Super Heavy Detatchment? I can use Machine Spirit Resurgent and Rotate Ion Shields from the Ad Mech book, but damn.
Damn GW. Damn. Right in the nuts. This is a head scratcher and real, real dumb. 8th ed has been a blast so far but this is one of the lamest moves I’ve seen them make.
The Knight detachment rule seems like it was written a long time ago, and removes all the nuance of the battalion changes from the big FAQ.
1000+pts for 3CP and forcing you to take all 3 big knights, or 180pts for a bunch of guard and 5cp.
It’s silly.
You guys obviously don’t know much about Battletech at all if you think Imperial Knights are that similar…
What page does it say you have to take the larger knights to get CP? Also, can you take a big one and 2 small ones legally and just not get 3 cp?
Yeah, it is in the Knight Lance rule, IIRC. You only get the CP if you have three Questoris or larger knights in the detachment.
