When is it?
Let’s see those Vertus do better this time
We’ll get it edited and uploaded next week.
sad we miss out on the live salt fest 🙁
Reece vs InControl is always a treat to watch in its full glory
Not bashing iNcontroL’s list at all (gotta make them Custodes work and it looks interesting), but I get bad fluff feels about the Astra Militarum relic/WL trait working for other armies (Custodes, Space Marines, Ad Mech, etc.) The Cadian company commander with the Aquila and Grand Strategist is just too easy to sneak into an Imperium list.
For 180 points, you can get:
3 CPs (from the battallion)
A very easy to hide War Lord (character, tiny model)
Kurov’s Aquila(get a CP on a 5+ when your opponent uses a strat)/Grand Strategist (roll a d6 for each CP used on a strat, get it refunded on a 5+)
It’s basically an auto take for imperium lists and while elite armies aren’t exactly winning GTs, it just seems “too good” and an “auto take.”
And I hate to reply to myself, but forgot to finish the point I was trying to make so I’m going on tangent mode now. One (of several) factors in games not finishing competitively that some of the groupthink in the LVO live stream chat agreed on was strategums/CPs. Index Hammer was very, very fast and the primary difference between “real 8th ed” and Index Hammer is strategums. I love strategums (literally my favorite part about 8th ed), but when a list with 15 CPs can end up closer to 23+ CPs via regeneration, it definitely has a factor on the game’s time. Not sure how you guys at FLG feel about this, but I would hope to see GW look at only 1 CP rengerating mechanic allowed per turn (you can only use the aquila OR the WL trait and declare at at the top of the battle round, etc.) and possibly a reduction of CPs from detachments (looking at you, brigades and battallions.)
I don’t have an issue with the mechanic of CP regeneration, but letting it stack just becomes a bit much.
I think this depends on the army. Pure Astra Militarium need those extra CPs to be competitive. Other armies don’t really need it as much.
I do though think the CPs gained should only be spent on the Warlords Detachment; so if a Cadian gets them refunded then they are for the use of the Cadian detachment … not the Custodes who quite honestly don’t need loads of extra ones.
Custodes absolutely need them. It’s why people do this. Their Stratagems are the best thing about them.
Agreed. As do some other non-horde armies (pure BA, Ad Mech, etc)
Just an idea, but I’d like to see 6 CPs for Battle Forged, 2 for a battallion, and 4 for a brigade with only 1 CP regenerating mechanic working per battle round (ie. use the aquila on your opponent’s first turn then wait to use Grand Strategist on your resulting turns)
I think they should just completely redo the detachments so each codex has a few specific to them. It’s super easy for some armies/factions to build up battalions and brigades, much more difficult for others. Have a battalion-style detachment and a brigade-style detachment, etc for Necrons which doesn’t have identical requirements to the Imperial Guard small, medium, and large detachments.
The true Victor in the battle of our aggressive divorced parents will be salt. The Victor is always salt.
lolol, this one was as salty as regular when Geoff and I play.
Y’all better kiss real deep and make up afterwards because it’s brutal out there, lmao
Oh yes, this was an emotional roller-coaster, per usual, lolol
The company ancient with the relic banner is such a cheater for 63 points. The vague wording for the shooting and out of phase round with zero penalty makes him so un-fun to play against. Drop in some reroll everything in the galaxy SM bubble and the classic devastator bait.
It is very powerful yes, but also one of the primary reasons Space Marines can remain competitive. I felt it was a bit OP at first too but as the edition rolls on, they seriously need it and their re-roll auras to hang in there. With them, they can compete, without them they’d start to fall a step behind, IMO. Many already feel they do but with that list I’ve yet to play an army I felt I couldn’t deal with and largely that is due to the support characters.

Will try to get them removed.
Just a heads up, Geoff rolled to get CPs back for the Grand strategist when he broke open the vaults, but he has to be on the table to roll them so can’t do it for the relic stratagem as its before deployment. Not a big deal but good to be aware of. (Also possible someone else has mentioned this, I haven’t finished the BatRep yet)
I thought that is the way it worked, but couldn’t remember.
Oops! Meant this for the Custode vs Eldar stream.
But is that how it works? If Geoff deployed the Commander, and then opened the vaults he could roll for the CPs. The Stratagem is simply “before the battle” so can happen during deployment “before the battle”.
I don’t have my book on me but if the character has to be on the table to use it then that could be possible, yeah.
The reason this doesnt work is that open the vaults is done before the battle, so before deployment or anything else happens.
The custodes list is eerily similar to mine, I am curious to watch this one in action
Anyone know if space wolves can take primaris reivers>
Yes they totally can. A unit I like very much.
