How has this not been brought up? The blood angels player used an a stratgem (Decent of angels) to get 3d6 on the charge when the captain was already on the battlefield at the start of the turn. Sure he could have used a command point to redploy but at that point it looks like the captain would probably be zoned out?
The chaos player loses so much from this illegal use of a stratagem it is insane.
It was an accident and no one caught it at the time, unfortunately.
It’s to bad the only reason the chaos player lost was because the BA player misplayed the assault 3d6 stratagem. The Fire Raptor died because of it and the resuling mortal wound explosion took out the heart of the chaos army. That stratagem can only be used on the turn you deep strike. That was specifically asked by the chaos player and the BA player said anytime. Judges won’t stop this, but a referee would.
This is the reason so many people question every move and every rule. They don’t want to feel ‘cheated’. So they slow down the game and question everything. I feel bad for the chaos player.
Yeah, it stinks. I know the BA player and he’s a good guy. It was just a mistake and these things happen. With something that important just ask your opponent to show you the rule.
They also rolled for infiltrate (Scouts vs Alpha Legion) which is incorrect and enabled Chaos to screen vs Death Company. There are always going to be rules errors in 40k it’s part of the game.
Even professional content creators like Miniwargaming get stuff wrong all the time.
yep. I make really basic mistakes all the time and I play more warhammer than anyone else I know 🙁
What was wrong with that Roll off for Scout vs alpha
Scout’s rules say they deploy during deployment. The Alpha Legion stratagem allows you to deploy a squad off table until after the deployment phase but before the round begins when you then choose where to deploy them. Scouts rules dictate that they are on the table before Alpha Legion stratagems allows it’s unit to deploy, no reason to ever roll.
A really good batrep! It os not often you get such a clear view of the battlefield and it was also quite easy to hear the players and get immersed in the battle. For anyone new to the game, my advice would be to watch this a couple of times and analyze their tactics. Beside some very fine warhammer 40k being played, there are also some major faults & mistakes (as mentioned in previous posts), that made huge impact in the game.
We talked about it after the game. He knew what my intent was and even though he could have “Tony’d” me when we talked about it, we discovered it didn’t make a difference in the long run. If I had paid the 1 cp to make the jump I still would have made my charge with the 13 I rolled. It would have prevented me from fighting again with Sanguinor (which did nothing overall). in his own words “I lost cause I didn’t put the raptor in the corner.” And in regards of the roll off it had nothing to do with the scouts. It was for the Death Company strategm “Forlorn Fury” to allow them to move before the 1st battle round which occurs at the same time as the infiltrating cultists.
