40k Championships at the LVO Update

Hey everyone, just getting some information out there for the LVO 40k Championships event.

For one, we’ve got the event up on Best Coast Pairings.

If you don’t see your name on the 40k Championships registration list (we’re missing about 30 of you) make sure to get yourself registered. Also, you can begin uploading your list via the player app. You REALLY want to do this early if at all possible as it saves you a lot of time over doing it at the event. If you are unable to upload your list in advance (which again, please do) then you can upload your list at the event during registration. However, obviously, if there are hundreds of people trying to do this at the same time you will all be waiting in very long lines which is not fun.

Early registration opens on Thursday the 25th from 6:00 to 8:00pm. You can begin uploading your list at that point in addition to normal registration on Friday, January 26th at 8am. So, do yourself a favor and get your list uploaded ahead of time! It is a requirement this year to do so, so knock it out early and save yourself some headache.

Also, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about the new Daemon Codex and how it may or may not interact with units in other Codexes. I would assume if I was a Daemon player that a Daemon FAQ would be coming out quickly on the heels of the Daemon book as has been the case with other Codex releases. We will look to GW to answer these questions but no, I would not plan on deep-striking (or any other similar uses of stratagems) Magnus, Mortarion, the Lord of Skulls, etc. with the Daemon codex. I’d work on the assumption that only Daemon Faction Keyword units can use the Codex Daemon stratagems. Again, we will look to GW for official answers but as friendly advice, that would be what I would say to anyone thinking about bringing that to the LVO. So please consider that when writing your list.

And, bonus Pro Tip:

Since we’ve been tracking game results in the studio over nearly 50 games with ITC Champion’s Missions, which we will be playing at the LVO, here’s what we’ve noticed:

So give some careful thought to whether you want first turn or not. Often we find going second is better as it allows you to see exactly what you have to do to outscore your opponent. And of course, get some practice in on those missions before you arrive and make sure to read the packet in advance and especially the section on conceding and tabling. You do not get max points for tabling your opponent, and you get ZERO points if you concede. We just want to make sure no one has an unpleasant surprise at the event. Thanks!

Thanks and we look forward to our biggest and best 40k Championships event yet!
