Please do not send an army list in a format such as Army Builder, send them in an easy to read, typed format. Thanks!
It seems with the new CA rules about shooting at characters, and the CA FAQ for the same, we can now snipe characters outside the shooting phase.
Things like Auspex Scan and dying Noise Marines can shoot characters in range, since the restriction only applies to the shooting phase.
Intended? Will be FAQed again?
I believe that’s intended- outside of the shooting phase, you are free to target characters, as this was made explicit by one of the Overwatch FAQs.
However, do note that Auspex Scan (as well as many similar stratagems) say that you can “shoot as if it were the shooting phase,” which means you will not be able to target characters with them.
However if the Noise Marine dies in the Shooting Phase, I’d assume he still has the Character Rule applied
Get him in the fight phase, though, and those Blastmasters get to die first and snipe some characters from 48″.
I need to reread codex. I thought it said if an enemy was within 1” they can only use pistol weapons.
No, Music of the Apocalypse specifically allows you to shoot normally, even if you are within 1″ of an enemy model. (If you _do_ choose to shoot pistols, and I have no idea why you ever would, you must obey the normal restrictions, as per the FAQ.)
The only reason you’d use pistols is to shoot the unit you’re in cc with, as Music of the Apocalypse doesn’t let you target enemies within an inch of enemy models, so the pistol rules would have to do. rare, but there could be nothing else in range.
I’d really like the podcast to be more focused on stuff like this:
What are the best factions in tournaments
What is the main thing making them the best factions
What do you do against said thing
Hello! I will do my best, though that is a lot of content and I sadly only do one episode a week.
Have you taken a listen to episode #50? We talked a lot about which factions were on top in that episode. Though there was less explaining and analyzing in that episode.
You can also always email me if you have any questions at all or if you feel like I need to spend more time elaborating on a specific subject.

Agreed with Pablo on this one – go back to Episode 50 – where we identify the meta using the BCP results data.
We’re only in the beginning of real analysis of it – and I promise you if you stick with the show that you’re going to get exactly what you’re looking for.
Cheers!
Val is the best co-host! Love the analytics. I am also in finance and agreed and back his comments 100%.
All 3 are great. I didn’t like how Pablo kept saying stuff like “ok that was a bit too long”, “oh I don’t know if people want to hear those things” to him though >_>
If someone is passionate about anything related to 40k – they can talk as much as they want IMO
I love Val, and love his passion. He could talk for days about so many subjects, so unfortunately I had to cut him short.
To be fair, he did get the most amount of time out of all three co-hosts, and I do get complaints about rambling and episode length. I’m sure Val would love reading all of these comments though.
I wonder what we should call Val Heffelfinger fans? Heffelites?
Hey folks – thanks so much for the kind words… though Pablo was probably too polite in letting me run amok on that one.
I think I might have gotten through all my anecdotes on that run through. Hopefully my segments won’t all run 45 minutes when there’s 3 other guys on the show.
Super excited to share more BCP data in the weeks leading up to the LVO.
Lol, I’m used to listening to 3-7 hour podcast episodes 😀
Talk as much as you want
You can count me as another fan of Val! PP; you’re usually very. . . effusive in praising your guests, so it was weird to hear you under-cut the points he was making, even if you consider them outside the normal focus of your podcast. How GW does as a company is more relevant than talking about various videogames. Also you have a habit of dancing around a topic at times, & I find myself trying to physically motion you along to get to the point! Also, if people want to grant you patronage via patreon, I would prefer that to having to hear awkward or repetitive commercials FWIW. I know Reece, Franky & the ‘Stache promote upcoming tournaments & events, but I hope you’re not charging any TO’s (too much) for a mention on the ‘cast. Otherwise I’m a fan & hope you don’t mind my feedback, as a listener as of 8th Ed. Finally, I’m looking fwd. to Frontline Gaming covering the Renegade Open next year–despite not fully embracing ITC here in Minnesota*, we seem to have a solid gaming scene in Minnesota, without the traffic of the coasts.
*I’ve heard at least 1 rumor as to why, but haven’t substantiated it yet, so I won’t comment here
Thank you for the feedback!
