Hey everyone, we’re excited to announce the LVO 2018 hobby offerings!
It took a while longer than expected, but we’ve got some awesome hobby classes, speed painting competitions, paint and takes, and the first annual Las Vegas Open Painting Championships to announce!
Here are some key points:
- The inaugural Las Vegas Open painting Championships! The Best of Show winner will walk with a Crystal Brush Qualifier and a $500 cash prize!

We’re also extremely excited to unveil our lineup of awesome instructors who will be teaching intensive, longer classes with the aim to really up your hobby skills. These are going to provide an entirely new level of engagement with the instructor for an incredible experience, and one we hop you choose to join us in.
Meet our instructors:
- Angel Giraldez:
My name is Angel Giraldez ad I am the chief painter for Corvus Belli. In addition, I often collaborate with Acrylicos Vallejo, Iwata and Harder&Steenbeck, moreover I am the founder of AG Team, a painting service that work with many international companies such as Steam Forged, Malifaux, Terrible Kits, GT Studio Creations, Mcvey,etc… Moreover I have written two painting books, “Painting Miniatures from A to Z” Angel Giraldez masterclass Vol.1 and Vol.2
- Matt Dipietro:
Matt DiPietro is one of the most prolific miniatures painter working today. He started his career as lead studio painter for Privateer Press helping to shape the painting of the Warmachine and Hordes studio models for nearly a decade. These days he makes his living teaching the next generation of miniature artisans, and creating miniature art for private collectors under the banner of Contrast Miniatures. When you hear Matt talk about miniatures, art, sculpture, and painting you feel the love he has for all aspects of our hobby. - Caleb Wissenback:
Caleb Wissenback is a co-founder of CKStudios, who specialize in training and instruction in figure painting and airbrush work with weekend seminars, convention classes and personal coaching .
Caleb Wissenback has been miniature painting for about 8 years . He began competitively painting in 2010 and has managed to win a few Golden Demons and Crystal Brushes in that time.
He also works as a commission painter in his spare time . His armies have won best of show at many tournament events and his work has been featured in White Dwarf . His Work can be found on CMON under the username CK Studios .
- Seth Amsden:
Seth Amsden is a long-time miniatures gamer and an artist who has been active in both the gaming and painting communities for more than a decade.
Recently he has been inspired to take on a unique, surreal, and largely unexplored art form that he calls SurrealScaping. Through incorporate natural materials into vinyl figures, dioramas, and other bases to create miniature landscapes that imagine surreal, fantastical environments in which reverie takes form in reality.
- Lyn Stahl:
Lyn Started painting miniatures in 1997.She started off painting Ral Partha, Grendier and Reaper Miniatures. In 2009, lyn began painting for clients and Metalhead Minis was established. I have painted for companies such as Ironwind Metals, MegaCon Games, ACP Games and much more! I teach at many conventions and game stores throughout the year such as GenCon, Battlehaven, and LVO. I have also won multiple painting competition awards since 2009.

- Mark Maxey:
Mark Maxey is an award winning miniature enthusiast with over 20+ years of painting under his belt. His primary focus or specialty is chibi or anime style of painting. He has worked with companies such as Ninja Division, CMON, and Impact!
- Yeji Kim:
Yeji Kim is a miniature painter with a specialty in the realm of Chibis and focuses on using bright, bold colors. She has been painting off and on since 2011 and became a commissioned artist by name of Snickernack Studios in 2015. She is the co-founder of Models Workshop and a host of the popular painting podcast, Models Workshop After Hours. She has been teaching miniature painting at the convention level since 2016.
