The Sisters feature the amazingly good Repressor tank from Forgeworld, Celestine, loads of Seraphim and enough Melta guns to set the world on fire!

“Hopefully it will alleviate some of the fears that people have about Astra Militarum just being the most powerful thing in the universe because they’re not.”
Goes on to draw the game with the SoB basically tabled, even though AM got second turn.
My fears go unalleviated.
Yep. If anything, almost feels confirmed. Lol
:^)
Your fears weren’t alleviated when the Guard army smashed someone in melee? :^)
Using Catachans in CHIMERAS with Veterans instead of allying Elysians, Genestealers, Tempestus or literally anything other than Veteran in Chimeras?
:^)
I had 2 units of Vets in Chimeras, and 1 in a Taurox. I have played that or a variation of that list dozens of times, it is very good.
Mostly just teasing, big guy. That’s why I’m using the little emoticon. You spent the whole batrep Doomsaying and made a point to try and emphasize people shouldn’t be concerned, and then, in the end, you still tied after nearly wiping out an entire army with something I believe is entirely fair to call a very unorthodox list.
Again, totally fair point. And I was beaten but for a lucky break.
My list is unorthodox? Yeah, I guess, but I have loads of reps with it and feel very confident. People too frequently get caught up in net-think, and if a list pops up people aren’t familiar with they write it off.
Entirely fair counterpoint. Net list, GT lists, those all stand out. Only meaning to imply your list is far different from that. If it’s working for you, that’s obviously a benefit for you.
Yeah, often people tend to think something new is bad until it wins and then–of course–it’s not bad, but awesome! Haha.
The current AM list with loads of bodies is still solid, but I have found the mechanized army to really perform well against a wide variety of opponents, and those Bullgryn…holy crap. They are stupidly effective.
Fair enough, calling the end wrong early in the game makes you look silly but, I was defeated, the only reason I came back to tie is because 1.) my Bullgryn did about 2x more damage in a round of melee than they should have on averages, freeing them up, and 2.) Frankie failed a 4″ charge to win the game.
Either of those goes his way, he wins by a mile. I straight up got lucky.
Yeah Sossen, kind of hilarious : ) AM are stupid good, like people say.
And 2++ Bullgryns doing really well in combat, who would’ve guessed?
Very cool battle report, thanks. I miss the old nightly battles for my hobby sessions, but the new features in the weekly reports are great and add a lot of value.
Though I do agree with everyone else – says a lot about how strong AM is that you can roll poorly for some key stuff the first two turns, make a lot of big mistakes throughout the game, play against one of the fastest armies in the game versus a good opponent who played well, and still tie and nearly win. I am still terrified of seeing what maxed-out Cadian and Tallarn armies will do!
Yeah, they are very good, no doubt about it. But, as stated, I only tied because Frankie failed a 4″ charge, he only had to roll anything but snake eyes, haha. That and my Bullgryn going super saiyan brought me back from a 19-0 loss. Turn 5, Frankie was still winning, too. But, yes, AM are very, very good.
I think if you threw in a squad of conscripts and the bullgryns it mightve ended up tabling him. Bullgyns can only cover so much ground for screening. How does it work for points if you table someone but fail the mission? Full points still?
I don’t think this shows that AM are overly strong, I think it shows they have staying power vs a very strong alpha strike list. As Frankie said on stream there were about three occasions that would have been an insta-loss were it not for bad dice rolls, however because the guard were able to stay relevant throughout the game despite their losses they could slowly draw the game back.
Also worth noting that Sisters don’t have any buffs, stratagems, traits, relics or doctrines yet while guard do. Imagine the same game but with a sisters force that had something like reroll wounds for meltas and flamers. It would look like a different ballgame.
So, did Celestine fail her get-back-up roll? Or did she get up then get killed again?
She got back up, and then got killed again by Bullgryn.
