The new Age of Sigmar campaign: Firestorm is now up for pre-order and looks to be a lot of fun.
This campaign gives you a lot of bang for your buck. It advances the story of Age of Sigmar for one, which is very exciting, and it gives you a super cool campaign to play with your friends. It takes place on the Flamescar Plateau, where Sigmar is increasing his control on this plane. Whomever gains control over the Realm of Fire gains the power of an ancient and powerful civilization!
The campaign comes with lots of goodies, including a full color, fold out card-stock map complete with reusable faction stickers. You use these to mark your territory as you expand your territory by defeating your friends in games of AoS!
This gives you a lot of what you most likely love about map campaigns. Your armies grown in power as they expand, gaining loot and glory, represented in cards that you add to a deck. You also increase your ability to field larger armies as you go. Games can vary in size and go up to 2,000 points in matched play terms. Stratagems also come in to play as you go, allowing you to do fun things like redeploy units, reduce the range of attacks on the first battle round, etc.
Each of the various territories also comes with its own benefits and potential dangers, too, tied to the character of that region. There are also some unique Battleplans representing things like ambushes, traps and night attacks.
It looks like a blast and we hope to run through the campaign soon ourselves!
Allegiances
One of the other very cool aspects of Firestorm are the Allegiances it brings to the game. These offer you alternative ways to create armies in AoS. Whereas typically you have Order, Chaos, Destruction or Death as you allegiance, etc. Firestorm offers you some new and very cool allegiances. These represent forces that are present in the Flamescar Plateau. When you choose one of these new allegiances you gain a wider variety of models to choose form and new allegiance abilities. The only limitation is that you cannot choose names characters to be in these allegiances. Here’s an overview of the 10 new allegiances!

Wow, that is a lot of new material! As a Free Peoples player that uses a lot of Ironweld Aresenal and some Collegiate Arcane, I am immediately drawn to the Greywater Fastness allegiance. Heck, I even have some Waderers hanging around! But, I could take my list as it is, make them Greywater Fastness, and gain a very cool ability, letting my deadly Hellstorm Rockets potentially fire again in the hero phase. Not bad! I’ll have some of that, please.
Do you plan on playing your army as one of the above allegiances? If so, which one?
