Thunderfire gunner 26p?
Under thunderfire it says it has a techmarine as a gunner so shouldnt that be 55 for the TFC entry + 45 for the techmarine 24 for servo arms, 9 for the flamer and 7 for the plasma cutter?
“Techmarine gunner” is its own entry in the heavy support section and it costs 26p.
And he does account for the wargear costs to the right of the model.
Thanks.
Is that a valid Ynnari list? The 2nd detachment is not led by a ynnari character but contains both drukhari and craftworld models…
The Autarchs gain the Ynnari keyword, you don’t have to include one of the special characters in a Ynnari army.
Only restriction is that one of the 3 Ynnari characters is in your army, and is the warlord. You don’t need to have one in every detachment
Right, you do have to include one of the Ynnari characters but only 1.
Hi…can you tell me where in the Index it says that I need a Ynnari character to lead the Army . We are banging our heads here to find it .
It’s in the FAQ
The wargear I saw. Was confused about the gunner cost, thats all.
It’s one of the nice things about the TFC. The “techmarine gunner” has worse personal stats than a regular techmarine but who takes the techmarine for the statline anyway? He’s still a character that can hide behind anything and he can still repair any astartes vehicle just the same as a regular techmarine would. So if you’ve got a tank gunline he can sit next to his TFC and fire that while repairing other vehicles.
Yeah, the TFC is pretty dang good. Plus, his stratagem is bad ass.
That´s the only way I use the TFC. As a damage dealer it is laughably ineffective and wont make its points back unless you are very lucky. You need to combine it with vehicle repair and hope the enemy has something that will suffer greatly from having its movement hampered.
Unfortunately that also means the death of multiple TFCs (and I painted up 3) since the TFC strategem can only be used once per turn(phase).
As for regular techmarines nope, still no luck. Tried to run them even with dreadnought themed armies with 2 tecchies in constant repair range with 4 dreads but dreads die far to fast for the repair to ever play a role.
..maybe if the SM tecchie got the same free-of-charge anti vehicle smite power as the chaos one has.
Great game, guys! Very entertaining. Couple of thoughts:
– The TFC gunner has only 2 Wounds, I’m afraid. The cannon has 4.
– Lesson learned: Capture the relic with a character in turn 1 and surround him.
– On a related note, this game illustrates why a Jump Pack for the Librarian is a must-have: deploy independently, can better position for smites/staying out of denial range, can move better forward into null zone range, jump out of melee, etc. He should have been on the relic. Also to make a suicide forwards jump feasible, I give him the Armor Indomitus. That makes him a bitch to kill for one phase. [Also great for relic missions :)))] Way better than Teeth of Terra.
– Speaking of mobility: I have to take note that Assault Marines would have saved the day if the enemy didnt roll ungodly for his saves.
– Grav Cannon > Heavy Bolter. It’s better versus hordes and versus vehicles/monsters/characters. TFC is a bit dubitable.
– I run C-Plasma Veterans lately. Another unit that can do some unpleasant shooting if one of my units is forced to fallback. And they help keeping linchpin characters alive.
Glad you liked it! It was super fun.
Good to know on the Techmarine Gunner, I am glad it didn’t end up winning me the game.
The Armor indomintus is pretty cool, might have to try it. I agree the Libby with Jump Pack is great but I use mine as it is the model I have and is painted. Typically though, I do not miss the Jump Pack, TBH.
I have had good success actually with the Company Champion with the Shield Eternal! Lol, he’s so cheap but becomes very tough to kill. Not great, but fun to drop him in the backfield and cause havoc with.
I know, the Assault Marines were so close to pulling it off! Lol, on averages they overkill him but hey, them there is the breaks.
I have toyed with using Plasma Vets, too. I opted for Sternguard with Stormbolters for pure Dakka as there are to many Conscripts in the meta right now.
Grav Cannons give you loads of Dakka, I agree with you, but they also cost nearly 3x what the Heavy Bolters do and I often use the Helfire round with them for nearly assured mortal wounds at long range.
Does an unbuffed TFC really do more for you than an upgrade from fully buffed HBs to GCs plus some spare change for a jumpack and some C-Plas though? Yes, it has got reach, is less susceptible to counterfire and has that stratagem (which you could have used the turn after the relic was stolen) but it doesn’t even kill that many additional conscipts due to being unbuffed…
Plus if necessary you can keep one HB among the GCs. Even 1xHB, 1xML plus 2xGC would be a very viable combo.
I have to have 3 Heavy Supports for the Birgade.
Ah, yeah. Then it’s a good choice because it can add support anywhere on the table.
Yeah, and cheap!
Conscripts? Pff, you only need a flamer or two to take care of those conscripts. I heard flamers were extremely powerful. lol
😛
Did that Autarch Soulburst twice in the same turn?
I think he made one in the shooting phase to grab the relic, then another in the assault phase to scamper into the building.
I’m glad he did though, hilarious game. That Farseer running the length of the board and slaying two characters to grab the relic.
Right?! lol, comedy gold. And Lias has 6 wounds, doh! He wouldn’t have died. Oh well, won’t make that mistake again.
Scorpion chainsword isn’t AP-1.
Didn’t make a huge difference to the game but something to remember
I didn’t think so, I thought it only increased strength. But again, all good.
Question about Word of the Phoenix and “as if phases”
So lets say Yvraine cast WoTP on Unit X.
Unit X shoots – Missed – Used a reroll stratagem
Does that reroll stratagem limit count in your psychic phase or shooting phase?
I mean, technically it is still your psychic phase since Yvraine can still cast a power after resolving WoTP.
It counts for the phase.
Which phase would that be? Since you Soulburst (WoTP) in the psychic phase but suppose to treat it “as if” your shooting phase.
