Please do not send an army list in a format such as Army Builder, send them in an easy to read, typed format. Thanks!
great as always!
I’m sorry I just had to say it – I respect that your making a podcast and trying to help the community, get listens, etc… but I really hate the fact that I’m forced to download you with the FLG stream.
I wish I had a choice before being forced to download your podcast because honestly, I don’t think I would. You come off as really arrogant on Facebook and it makes it hard to want to listen to you.
Have you even listened to any of the CT podcasts? Pablo is the opposite of arrogant. I don’t know what he posts on Facebook but I’d say if you are going to judge him, judge him by what he actually says on stream and not an easily misinterpreted Facebook post.
<3
Yes I’ve listened to a few but my point remains the same, I don’t like that I’m forced to download it if I subscribe to signals.
I didn’t say I didn’t respect the effort, I do, nor did I say the information was bad, it isn’t, but rather I don’t like how Pablo comes off in the comptetivie 40k group.
If you want to be/are a community leader you need to make sure you put your best foot forward in any and all public facings regarding that community.
It’s entirely possible I am interrupting inflection wrong from a text post and I don’t mean for you to take any of it as harmful.
I’m just giving my feedback. Not everyone wants to install the yahoo toolbar with their download of a patch.
Please note I feel the same way about the AoS podcast. I subscribed for Signals, not everything else.
My main issue with the “Michael Bay” FW concerns is that, by a large measure, I have probably seen more TOs, and singular instances of players signaling that FW is a problem. People are fine with models in the polls I see. People want to use FW.
This is approaching very rapidly a “we are deciding what’s good for the community and what is fun” instead of gathering feedback from people.
Again, people seem okay with it. I’m almost fully on board with following whatever ITC wants to do and the idea being that you guys are big enough that you SHOULD make blanket decisions, but this seems one that’s directly contrary to people’s wishes.
Who said anything about banning Forgeworld? We do share our opinons online but as for “blanket bans” currently the ITC is not holding any votes or discussions globally on the issue. Besides on Signals, I believe Reece specifically mentioned that he does not want to ban Forgeworld entirely.
No, no, forgive me. I misspoke. I was generalizing.
An edit function added to these would be a godsend, haha.
Ha, I understand.
Well then I agree with your sentiment. I, personally am not a fan of FW (though their expedient FAQ really did a lot to change my mind) but there are a lot of people in community who do not wish it banned, and I think limiting/banning it is not a decision a TO should make lightly.
Agreed. Their FAQ put a lot of my concerns at ease.
I go on here to make the same post as Ryan. I wish this podcast wasn’t on the same feed as signals. If I had the choice I would not download this podcast, as it is down i just delete it each time it shows up.
The audio levels are all over the place on this one. Had to stop after a few minutes after straining to hear one guy only to be deafened by the other.
Hard to draw any positives as I could only hear one half of the conversation.
Nathan thank you for the heads up on the Audio. I did raise the volume on my end and use balancing software. Though it seemed fine when I did my final listening checks obviously you felt otherwise. I will look into fixing it even more in the future.
Audio can be such a pain sometimes, lol.
First half of the … “interview” you were really, really quiet Petey, I had to switch to my PC so I could turn the volume up high enough to hear you clearly. It did seem to even up towards the end though.
Just wanted to leave a comment disagreeing with a few of the other negative messages. I love Chapter Tactics and don’t think that you come off as arrogant, at least on the podcast. I get good information from this podcast and just wanted to say – Keep up the good work! Not everyone on the internet has something to complain about!
Thank you Matt! I appreciate the support.
Nice podcast, wasn’t a fan of the tangent at the start, but sure that is what the skip ahead slider is for, so no biggie. Enjoying these podcasts on the commute to work on Mondays.
Btw what about Legion of the damned? The forgotten elite choice that most skip over!
No longer an Elites choice I believe. They’re their own faction now, or at least listed as such in Index Imperium I.
LoTD are still as useless and overpriced as they were before. They were ever only taken in odd instances and only because the game was ruined by eldar and serpents.
LoTD are still not used and still never to be seen in tournaments.
Speaking of which, after the talk of a living rulebook/point costs I wonder how will the game alter to become better after loopholes are exposed by tournament metas?
Will we keep drowning in non-fun crap like horde aura spam or flying chickenspam a´la the latest tournament or will these things be addressed?
Same goes for models/units never seen on the tabletop such as for example the aforementioned LoTD and non deathwing all-terminator army themes?
In other words will the game be “changed” towards pushing back op spam things towards encouraging never seen things? Ork kan themed armies are a perfect examlpe of this, previously never seen and to crappy but now actually fun to play with and against.
I feel like this a sightly over dramatic response in regards to the “drowning in spam” statement simply because the edition isn’t even a month old
As Reece and Frankie have said multiple times on the podcast, 1. It is not possible to perfectly balanced a games as complex as 40K. There will be units that are too expensive or too cheap for what they do. It would appear as though GW is invested in maintaining some game balance because they changed some points and limited some things in their FAQs.
Additionally once more of the community has gotten their feet wet in 8th and understands the edition better, tournements can introduce the more complex missions with both in game and end of game scoring, which will change the lists some people take. It makes flyers and sit and shoot armies not as good
Further more, once codexes are released, players will have more incentive to take single faction armies which may also limits on their unit options.
Essentially there is a lot more development of the game that has not occurred so the best course of action right now is just to play and wait for the releases that have been promised
Also as a reminder, no one had ever played a true SM battle company competivitly before the formation came out in 7th to which people objected to the free transports and all the combat doctrines that it was given. So I would be careful in asking for changes to make “armies people never play” good because that’s been sort of a Pandora’s box in the past
Thank alot for this great episode!
Is there any chance to see the full Cult Mechanicus List?
You guys said you disliked Bikes, but unless I missed something you completely skipped Veterans on Bikes.
If you take just a unit of 5 Veterans with Storm Bolters and Chainswords on Bikes, you get a unit with 20 shots (40 at half range) with 3 attacks each (4 on the Sergeant) for 190 points. That’s not super killy, since it’s all S4 AP0, but it’s very fast and puts out a lot of attacks, making it non-ignorable and really good at cutting down smaller units or chaff.
What do you think?
Hey Requizen!
I think that sounds good if that is the kind of unit you are looking for.
Maybe spamming those (they are relatively cheap) to counter hordes is a viable strategy. I would have to play it out. Kudos for the unique idea, it sounds interesting.
Scout Bikes deserve a second look. For less than a regular bike they come with a twin bolter AND a shotgun AND a bolt pistol AND a combat knife AND grenades. That’s a lot of shots on the way in, plus a decent number of attacks and pistol shots if stuck in combat. 3 with a combi-melta on the sgt is really flexible for only 100pts all-in.
That’s what it was! I knew I was forgetting something about them in the episode. I think I mentioned it in the end.
Anyways you’re right, they can be really point efficient little meat blenders.
yeah what role do you need those bikes to fill? hordes usually come to you so you don’t have to chase them down.
Hey Pablo, I was wondering if there were any resources, blogs, vlogs, or just player’s twitter accounts you would recommend going to for Space Marine tactica/analysis ect. Something in the vein of what incontrol is doing with Tyranids, as an example. Thanks.
Hm, I don’t know. I’ve toyed with the idea of starting another podcast or recording twice a week, but ugh.
You can always try emailing me. I love talking about my boys in power armor.
So I’m a regular listener and appreciate the content you put out. A little annoyed with this episode when you guys say Aetos’Rau’Keras is really too good and probably shouldn’t be played. But hey look at our neat undercoasted land raider that puts out ludicrous fire power for its points and we can buff to T9. Seems like a hard line in the sand to draw.
I dont understand why ITC doesn’t just do what they did in 7th and say 1 LOW cannot take up more than 40% of your army. Seems like a cut and dry way to handle it. While the Tzentch lord is good I dont think hes any more silly than a 400 point land raider with 8 lascannon shots that you can buff with the best aura effect currently(girlyman) in the game to ensure they all hit.
The ITC didn’t have a “One LOW cannot take up more than 40%” clause in their document. That was a rule adopted by a small amount of TOs who probably ran ITC events. Remember, a TO is allowed to change whatever rule they want to fit their own local scene.
The ITC implemented a ban list that was widely accepted last edition.
I understand it’s hard to swallow the banning of your favorite models, but if tomorrow a vote were to pass and Guilliman were to be banned I would shut my mouth and move on. Because ultimately I know that the health of the game and enjoyment of my fellow players is more important.
Well said.
And, we never had a 40% rule.
Great pod cast, 3rd one I’ve listen too.
