Today PeteyPab and Lawrence from Tabletop Tactics talk tips, tricks, and tactics underpowered 40k factions can use to compete against top factions on the tabletop. This episode might not make your Harlequin army win a large GT, but it will help you compete against “Net Lists” and Cheese.

QOTD: How do you guys handle net lists?

      1. How about troop crisis squads with 2 missile suits and 3 gun drones? 5 bodies, 7 wounds, 4 autocannon-strength guns, majority armor 4+ vs grav.

          1. 140 pts of leadership 8 vs 105 pts of leadership 8 for a tac squad with a grav cannon. I dunno, seems doable. Sadly due to said grav cannons I can’t really even consider any of the shorter range crisis specials.

          2. Tactical Squads that fail a morale check regroup automatically and can still fire their weapons at full Ballistic Skill.

Crisis suits that fail a morale check are useless for a turn, and possibly just running off the table entirely.

  1. Great work as always! Although it would have been interesting to hear you really get into some of the units for some of those armies a little more…and dont be forgetting my blood angels!!

    1. Yeah, this is certainly a topic I want to address in the future. Each faction may even have their own episode…

  2. Deathwatch CAD

    HQ – Artemis
    EL – 2 terminators, 2 cyclone missiles
    EL – 2 terminators, 2 cyclone missiles
TR – 5 vets, 3 frag cannons, storm shield, auspex, pod
TR – 5 vets, 3 frag cannons, storm shield, auspex, pod
    TR – 5 vets, 5 shotguns, pod
    TR – 5 vets, 5 shotguns, pod
    FA – 5 bikes, 5 power mauls

    Skyhammer

    5 Devs, 4 multimeltas, pod
5 Devs, 3 Grav Cannons, pod
    5 Assault marines
    5 Assault marines

Not to shabby of an alpha strike that can turn into a beta strike if needed. Little termie squads play hide and seek at long range with 4 missile shots each. Bikes are not to shabby in assault. Shotguns go for the wee little folk. Not earth shattering, but its competitive.

  3. Woah! SMS is the best weapon in 40k… I don’t understand what you mean they are “ok” 😀

Side note — As a Tau player, I actually really dislike the current Tau meta. It is extremely not fluffy, and boring to play. I jumped on the riptide wing, surge combo and every game is essentially exactly the same. I am now back running my Farsight CAD, Maxed troop slots of crisis and breacher teams. Only 1 riptide!

    1. Shas'Itsa Mari'o

Right there with you although I still love all the big suits. A fun list that gets the crisis suits in the list is the Retaliation Cadre plus Optimized Stealth Cadre build. Hold on for turn one until the cavalry arrived

  4. This was an interesting one since I play orks, militarum tempestus, and dark eldar. I definitely go for those power armies.
