Hey eveyone, Adam from TFG Radio here to bring you a part 2, sort of, to our Pink Horror Discussion.
So this time we actually see Magnus on the table along with some pink horrors, piloted by Salt John, going against my Black Legion Warband.
Keep in mind we incorporated the GW Magnus FAQ. Enjoy!
Always, let us know what you think and what you want to see!
As always, share your thoughts in the comments section! And remember, Frontline Gaming sells Games Workshop product at up to 25% off, every day. You can also pick up some cheap models in our Second Hand Shop. Some of these gems are quite rare, sometimes they’re fully painted!
Can anyone give me a rundown of how the chaos lord was getting so many boons in this game?
Traitors Hate (not legion but the one previous) has a detachment of formations which allows you to grant a boon to any character in the detachment. Unlike the WB one in Traitor Legions there is no restriction on number of times they recieve a boon. Then you have the Chaos Warband that whenever they roll on the boon table you roll twice and pick one or both results. By end game you can have a pretty nasty character.
That is correct and how you can get a cheap lord become super sayain by the end of the game, if he lives long enough 😉
Is it just me, or did the Magnus player miss an opportunity to D beam the entire bike unit on his turn 3?
Also, Magnus can bless himself with Siphon Magic on a 2+ even if no psykers manifest near him he is affected. I know it was the first game, just making some notes.
Siphon Magic and Force are the two blessings he can (will) cast on himself, yeah. Also, by it’s own wording Siphon Magic gives you bonus dice even when the psyker it’s on casts a spell, so it’s actually a pretty decent choice for Magnus to open with.
Yes, it was done at a recent local tournament. Magnus and horrors were at top table but got seized on by Taudar
He did beam them and only killed 1 due to jinking and no 6’s
Actually, you cannot jink against beam attacks.
From final GW FAQ:
Q: A beam attack does not target a unit – can you still Jink?
A: No.
Adam cheats. It’s ok. 😉
Nobody can play a perfect game of 40k, mistakes happen, thanks for the correction!
“And knowing is half the battle!”
Yo jo! 😉
Why only mastery lvl 1 Cabal sorcerers? Seems to be a lot of points for only
3 warp charges.
Wait, I thought the Black Legion Warband was *not* objective secured…
He is using the Black Crusade detachment out of Traitor’s Hate instead of Black Legion Speartip out of Traitor Legions.
Legion rules apply to ANY detachment including CADs so this is the way Black Legion can play a normal Chaos Warband.
Got it. Thanks for the clarification
Uh, the daemon list is literally 300+ points smaller. This isn’t even a reasonable comparison. Please do this again so we can actually see how powerful the horrors really are. You could probably field 40 more
Have you costed the sorcerers as Exalted sorcerers? They are so many points, but that’s what the rehati war sect is made of.
+2 to initiative? Were you playing that boon results stack unless the roll was triggered by Champion Of Chaos? I thought the rule about not being able to have the same roll twice was supposed to fall under the ‘how to roll on the Chaos Boon table’ passage in CoC, not be treated as an independent step to resolving CoC itself.
Good report. I think as you play Magnus more that you will find he is better than this report implies.
Sorry, I didn’t hear anything you said, I was too distracted by just seeing Magnus on the table…
@John: why didn’t you just cast force on magnus? if you siphon first its basically free and the chaos lord on bike will really really think twice about going in against magnus.
His Lord had rolled Eternal Warrior on the Boon Chart.
Cool report, thanks for sharing 🙂
Well that went as I expected. ^^
I don’t trust list that rely on a single model really! Because bad dice are a thing.
