In this weeks episode Reece is joined by the guys from the Rolling Bad AoS Podcast. They talk about the Generals handbook second edition and some out of the box tactics.

Great stuff, always cool to hear different opinions on the game, I’ll have to go listen to Rolling Bad.
Left my comments on the General’s Handbook feedback thread. As much as it’s not as big a problem as some think imo I do think shooting should have a little more counter play. I suggested non-monster units shooting at other non-monster units through enemy units (or friendly units within 3″ of enemy units) suffer -1 to hit, I like this as it means you can better protect weaker heroes and you can still shoot fine into combat by out manoeuvring your opponent. Also I suggested shooting units with a range of 12″ or greater suffer -1 to hit when enemies are within 3″.
Also Reece your suggestion of measuring to the closest engaged model would also give 25mm based models a further ranks attacks, but honestly I agree with the Rolling Bad guys, aside from a few elite Aelven units I don’t think it’s really an issue, and they’re very points expensive and fragile anyhow.
Hadn’t thought of it but I really like using the old SCGT method of buying units by the minimum number and organising units as you deploy, hadn’t thought about more flexibility with battleline but that’s a good suggestion.
Loved the conversation about the roll for initiative. I loved it from the start(of the GHB) and was always taking bot of turn to give myself a chance for an awesome double turn. SOOO many 40k players around here just couldn’t understand it.
“You win the roll you win the game!”
“Well yea, but you see those turns where i won the roll and took bottom.”
Changed my mind about initiative which was pretty much my biggest gripe coming from 40k.
About the new handbook. I really hope they don’t give in and reintroduce single model point costs. It is often requested but in my opinion it is a relict from WHFB.
In the current system you go into the shop, buy a box and use every you just bought. Not half of it, not one, all of it. Which is great and is actually in our favour, especially for new players!
Still, alot of ppl want it badly, because they’ve got those now odd numbers of models laying around. Are they so eager to buy another box of 10 for 3 more models?
Maybe I’m missing something.
I think GW’s change is one of the only upsides of 2016, but I’m a little bit concerned about the whole facebook and suggestions thing. Might just be the platform for the loudest ideas not the best.

“That doesn’t matter.”

Haha, it is a HUGE change from what 40k players are used to.
