It was pretty cool to be asked to write about being a Tournament Organizer by Games Workshop, but I was happy to do it and I hope you enjoy reading the article.

Tournament Organising: Give it a try! – by Reecius

Hey there hobbyists, my name is Reece (Reecius on the interwebs), here to discuss the journey from community participant to community organizer. That leap can be intimidating to make but it is immensely rewarding! My hope is that this article not only shows the path that took me to community organization but also shows you that it really isn’t as difficult to do as you might imagine, and it’s well worth the investment of time and energy (and sometimes money!).

As many of you reading this can relate to, I started out as a wide-eyed young gamer enamoured by the amazing miniatures of Warhammer 40,000. There I stood in Games Workshop – Cambridge on a trip to visit family in England. My cousins had brought me to see this game that they were so enthused with first hand, and upon laying my eyes on a Dark Angels Captain, it was love at first sight!

From there I brought the game back to America (the 2nd edition boxed set with the Dark Millennium expansion!). I just knew I had to find some friends to play it with….
