Blood Bowl FAT Mats, please make it happen. 🙂
That may or may not be in the works =)
The movie you’re talking about at the start is called “They Live”. The premise is that yuppies are actually aliens enslaving the earth. Only solution is to shoot them with a shotgun.
Lol
Staring “Rowdy” Roddy Piper Directed by John Carpenter
If you haven’t seen it, you should..its amazing.
Lol, what?!?! Now I MUST see this film, haha
lol I was actually shocked you said you hadn’t seen it..
.. its filled with quotable quotes too..
the “I’ve come to kick ass and chew bubble gum…and I’m all out of bubble gum” being the most famous..
Its really entertaining..
Definitely going to check it out, now! haha
Man I was hoping that Mordheim would be next!!
That would be cool to see, again. It got crazy popular in our store for a while.
Battlefleet Gothic is such an incredible game. Like Blood Bowl, it is still alive and strong, with quite a large online community, and tournaments still at some events. in fact a friend and I just recently finished a mini campaign together, fighting for control of the Quinrox Sound sub-sector. The campaign system is super flavorful, and a blast for narrative play. Regardless of when GW reissues it, it’s worth looking into, and all the rules can be found online here:

Hey, that’s awesome! Thanks for sharing.
If you’re into fleet games, just pick up Dropfleet Commander. The rules are so much better than BFG and the minis are just incredible.
Some good BFG mechanics got taken over and further polished because of Andy Chambers being part of Dropfleet Commander too.
Yeah, I need to play that game. It will be at the LVO!
GorkaMorka! Loved that game, it was my first foray into the 40k universe and really helped to shape Orks into what they are now.
Definitely! That game was a good laugh.
The reason the Tau’unar was prevalent at Warzone was partly because of the novelty. It is cheap for what it does, but the people who won with it said it wasn’t a big factor in their wins.
It’s the unfamiliarity which gives it an advantage since it’s very durable, but people insist on focusing it. It still dies to mass grav which was something that shows up regularly in the top tables in ITC events, but was mostly absent from Warzone’s top end lists.
Forgeworld will adjust the price and make it higher with the next Imperial Armor book, will ITC allow it then? You guys need to re-evaluate next season after the new book is out. Tau could use the help. I don’t even see Frankie using Tau anymore.
Frankie plays his Tau a lot, actually, we just posted a bat rep with them.
Tau are averaging really high scores in the ITC, and are performing better than almost every other faction so I would have to disagree that they need help. They’re also one of the most played armies, so I think folks are having fun with them.
The Tau’anar violates our LoW policy, it’s not banned because it is too cheap.
The Pulse Ordnance multi-driver really does seem to be a bit much for the points. It clearly exceeds the ITC limits on wildly powerful weaponry.
The other weapon options cost the same but are widely (and correctly) seen as inferior. I would be very surprised if any of the ones at Warzone Atlanta had anything but the Pulse Ordnance multi-driver.
As for its super-durability? Eh, death-stars are worse. But that is just my opinion 🙂
Hey, we are all welcome to our points of view and that is fine! I for one would not want to see tables dominated by models like this and the Warhound, etc. but that is just me.
And yes, Deathstars are just straight up obnoxious.
The Pulse Ordnance Multi Drive can easily be restricted and disallowed while the rest of the weapon options and models are allowed.
ITC already does this for multiple other superheavies, so there is precedent. That doesn’t seem like a good justification.
Yeah Frankie played it in the recent batrep. He also had to call it turn 3 after barely moving out of his deployment zone. Which is pretty much the problem with Tau. Especially with more aggressive formations and builds being prevalent in the meta.
Tau are scoring high because they dominate mid tables and punish inexperienced players. But they struggle to get into the higher tables as I’m sure you know from the results.
In any case, restricting one weapon option and allowing the Supremacy suit should be considered, much like you guys have done with other Superheavies.
We’re not disallowing it only for the pulse driver, that hasn’t been mentioned except by others.
If enough people want it we can consider it, but it is way too powerful, IMO for what that is worth. I would vote against it, but that’s just me.
Ok, So I heard this and I have to chime in. I was at Warone Atlanta. It was an amazing event. I personally think it is the best GT around. Anyway, the head TO is Kelly Wallace. Paul Murphy is NOT the head TO. Paul is associated with the event. The event is Run by the General Staff gaming club in Atlanta. Again, Paul Murphy is involved, but the organizing and running of the event is done by the General Staff.
I have to agree with Horton’s sentiments, WZA is my favorite singles event all season. What I love about it is that it gives players the opportunity to bust out their toys that they otherwise can’t for two days out of the ITC calendar year. Many times, this means people putting away their dreaded Death Stars in favor of something more fun. Sure, there were 5 Tau’nars in the top 8, but those players would have been there regardless of the format. There were players like Colin Watts, Brett Perkins and the ETC Team Captain, Andrew Gonyo. I have to remind you that the Tau’nar did not win. Not BP or Overall. I’m not here to say the ITC format is wrong, because it’s not, people love it, but I am here to say that there is room for experimentation – even if that means playing the rulebook as it’s written to some degree. The event had a 0% drop rate, technically there was one drop but that’s because he was too drunk to show up for round 4, but I believe that speaks volumes to the quality of the event, it’s organizers at The General Staff, the promoters at Forge The Narrative and most importantly, the players that showed up. As the Overall winner of this year’s event, Thomas Byrd, so accurately explained, “Fun is what you make it.” Thomas beat many players to a pulp, but I guarantee they had a fun time doing it. I know I did.
Well said!
Thanks for the correction! We will be sure to make that point on the next cast and sorry for the confusion, I thought Paul was the head TO, my apologies for misspeaking.
The event sounds like it was a blast! I was mostly speaking about the fact that the Tau’anar is clearly extremely powerful.
Absolutely, it is extremely powerful. It power mainly lies in its cost. It should be around 900-1000pts but at 600, it’s an unbelievable value.
Agreed. I do not feel it belongs in normal play, but that is just me. My fear is that it comes to define the meta in the way deathstars do.
However, as always, if enough people want to use it that is what we do. I just don’t know if we’re there yet.
Busting out the big toys on occasion though, is awesome!
As stated below, thanks for the correction! Sorry for the mix-up, I will note that on the next podcast.
Glad you had fun! I have hear nothing but good things about the event.
