The gang is back together! Reece, Jason, and Mariana talk about Battletome: Seraphon. Gotta love those crazy lizard men.
For those curious few this is the shirt we referenced in the episode.

Wow finally, I’ve been hitting refresh waiting for the next ninth realm and then when I finally see it it’s my favourite faction aswell! Love these so much, thanks for making them!
You’re very welcome! Glad you’re enjoying the show.
I was basically doing the same thing lol. Just refreshing the page every half hour waiting for it.
Haha, sorry for that guys. We’ll have it post at a set time going forward.
I didn’t realize it wasn’t already at a set time lol. I just know it shows up some time Thursdays but I can’t remember when normally XD
It was a good show. I love listening to these three.
This is probably my favorite AoS podcast out there and that’s not even bias!
Seraphon are da best. Dinosaurs riding dinosaurs.
I really wish Saurus Cavalry were better- they aren’t extraordinarily expensive, but they have pretty lackluster attacks, really low survivability, and some of the slowest movement of any cavalry out there (though the 7″ run move is nice.) Maybe I’m just using them wrong or something.
Saurus Guard are champs, though- 2+ saves are fantastic (+1 from the Battalion, +1 from their own ability) and they put out a pretty shocking amount of damage. A trick I’ve used a lot is to station them so that they are within 3″ of other units in the army such that if the enemy charges, several units will get “pulled” into the fight without need to charge and thus trigger the d3 damage come your turn.
It seems kinda weird that the Seraphon don’t have a unique faction ability, command traits, or relics. Though I guess very few of the books actually have these, basically just the Beastclaw Raiders?
Anything after sylvaneth has them, so beastclaw, sylvaneth, and bonesplittaz.
Huh. It would be nice if they went back and gave the “older” factions their own tables, then- I feel pretty stupid not just slotting some Flamestorm Cannons or other good Order stuff into my Seraphon, even though it’s really anti-thematic. The only thing you’re really giving up is Saurus Guard as battleline, which is nice but you have other options.
Skinks are the unsung heroes of the lizard men army. They have shooting, they’re cheap, they move 8, and they get to retreat instead of attack with no penalties to their shooting.
They do work.
Also that engine of the gods. Has anyone had to deal with that thing giving out a free turn yet?
The free turn is amazing if you get it, but it’s super-unlike you ever see it even with a Slann. I guess if you have the Slann _and_ Tett’kko working together on it… but that’s like 700pts of Leaders right there.
The real killer for the Engine is the “summon a unit” result, which is basically garbage in Pitched Battle since it’s too unreliable to leave points dedicated to but also too common to just assume it won’t come up.
And yeah, Skinks are like the best utility guys around. Boltspitter+Moonclub does some serious work.
Well pretty much all the chaos characters are still around even the Glottkin and they got killed before the end of the old world.
There are some benefits to chaos.
Oh and Thanquol is still alive and kicking.
Good podcast again! I think Seraphon are an extremely solid army even if they don’t have a hard “gimmick” like other armies (SE Deep Striking, Beastclaw Raiders invincible Behemoths, FEC eternal units, etc), their combos and army buffs make them extremely strong on the baseline unit level which is good in general I think.
I think at a tournament level, you’ll see lots of Warrior bricks with buffing dudes and Bastiladon and/or Chameleon Skink support. There are probably other combos that work well, but just from a quick “what units look solid at first glance” look that’s what I’d expect to run across.
How are people making their Chameleon Skinks? Sticking to the Finecast models or converting Skinks with greenstuff?
