Rumors: The Rumor Section is gathered from the web and is not in any way information we receive from any manufacturer nor is it necessarily accurate. This section of the podcast is intended for entertainment purposes only.
GW’s flagship game has been rather quiet in recent months and AOS has been stealing the headlines in the meantime. I’m here to tell you that 40k is coming back in a big way.
-This year we’re going to see the start of something called “The time of Ending!” Games Workshop is going to advance the storyline.
-You’ve all heard the rumors of plastic Deamon Primarchs. I’m here to tell you they aren’t the only ones. Before Christmas this year we’re going to see the release of some loyalists as well.
-ROGAL DORN is going to be the first loyalist release. This is going to be a plastic kit specifically designed for 40k. He’ll be missing one of his hands, in it’s place will be a ranged weapon of some kind (this detail was quite sketchy however)
-Other Loyalists will also be returning eventually. Guilliman will be fully healed alongside some other surprises.
Here’s a big development: Some of the Primarchs will return to lead forces OTHER than their original Legions/Chapters, and will have different allegiances.
-Alpharius (or Omegon?) will be fighting against the forces of Chaos, whilst the Khan might return to battle the Imperium! (These details were sketchy and I believe these might just be examples)
-The plastic Primarchs will be specifically for 40k with different sets of rules, looks and wargear ALTHOUGH there might be overlap with some of the existing FW models.
-Magnus and Angron from the traitor side initially, followed by Perturabo. Angron is going to be a really big, imposing model
-Horus Heresy second boardgame will be released around November this year. People should be excited about this!
-Plastic Warhound will not be released this year.
-Warhammer 40k 8th edition will have 2 tiers of game. A streamlined version and more advanced play. Also free downloads for rules in the same way as AoS will start this year following the next campaign book. This will not be for all of the rules however.
-The time of Ending will lead into 8th edition which is out next year.

List Review
Hi,
I have been following FLG for quite some time and I really enjoy all your work!
I would like to have some feedback on the following list. I haven’t seen a lot of WCSF lists or they are Blackmane or Iron Wolves and always the same. I tend to find the standard GreatPack more flexible (less taxes).
It is not really dedicated for a tournament or any special events. Just an all-comer/pick-up game type of list.
SW – WCSF Great Pack
WGBL TW mount (50), Power Fist (25), Storm Shield (15), Runic Armor (25) 165
Grey Hunters (5) Plasma Gun (15) 85
Rhino 35
Grey Hunters (5) Plasma Gun (15) incl. Wolf Guard: Combi-Plasma (10) 105
Rhino 35
Grey Hunters (5) Melta Gun (10) incl. Wolf Guard: Combi-Melta (10) 100
Drop Pod 35
Blood Claws (5) Power Axe (15), Flamer (5) 80
Rhino 35
Long Fangs (3) Missile Launchers with Flakk Missiles(15+10) x2 95
Rhino 35
SW – WCSF Wulfkin
Fenrisan Wolves (5) incl. Cyberwolf x1 (10) 50
Fenrisan Wolves (5) incl. Cyberwolf x1 (10) 50
SW – WCSF Wyrdstorm Brotherhood
Rune Priest Runic Armor (25), ML 2 (25), Runic Axe (0), Bike (20), Helm of Durfast (20) 150
Rune Priest Russ Armor (35), ML 2 (25), Runic Axe (0), Bike (20), MB (5) 145
Rune Priest Runic Armor (25), ML 2 (25), Runic Sword (0), Bike (20), MB (5) 135
Rune Priest Runic Armor (25), ML1 (0), Runic Axe (0) 85
SW – Champion of Fenris
HQ1: Iron Priest TW mount (50), Tempest Hammer (5) 130
HQ2: Iron Priest TW mount (50), Tempest Hammer (5) 130
EL1: Scouts (5) Camo (2) x5, Snipers (1) x5 85
EL2: Scouts (5) Camo (2) x5, Snipers (1) x5 85
The idea of the list is to have maximum flexibility, with the capability to put a deathstar unit by:
– Wolfkin detachment making 1 unit joined by the rune priests bikers and the 3 thunderwolves. It will grand the unit a toughness of 5 and major save of 6+ (looking at those pesky grav. weapons). With monster hunter as a bonus.
– The RPs will go for Endurance and/or Forewarning and other buffs whilst I can still use the 5D6 – S7 shots with ignores cover + re-roll fails to hit (thanks to the helm).
Or, if needed I can create 2 mini DS units with keeping the fenrisan wolves as 2 units (if I need to go after multiple threats – MSU type of army).
The long fangs, I’ve been thinking about that unit build – it is only 2 S8 shots or S7 Skyfire shots to target flyers or FMC and small vehicules (rhinos & co). But hiding them in the rhino whilst still being able to shot both weapons will keep them “safe” compared to a stronger unit (even in ruins they’re likely to die).
(Point difference to get a 5 Long Fangs units is only 5 points though, not difficult to switch back to a more standard setup.)
The last RP can join the long fangs if he gets perfect timing or any other units in a Rhino bringing another source of Prescience.
Only question is if the counter charge rule will work with the Iron Priest joining a unit from the WCSF… But that can be sorted out before the game… Still it will be a nice ‘plus’.
There is no ‘Hit and Run’ for the DS which is not great. The Overkill release with the White Scar character might be a cheap source for it as a 3rd detachment? Not sure if this is possible…
Thank you!
PS: Hope my email is readable … as a French living in London I tend to have a terrible writing style … and butcher the English grammar…
8th edition? Oh… that’s something i didn’t expect. BTW The time of Ending sounds dangerous… like WHFB End of times
It doesn’t sound like that’s what’s hapenning.
So does this mean they are switching from AoS back to WH40k again? Last 6 months they were most focused on AoS
I can’t say for certain or when this will occur, but I would bet 40k gets some more love, soon.
Is there any news around Inquisition? Love fluff but no updates 🙁
God I hope they don’t bring primarchs back, only traitor should return and a couple loyalist…
Really? I think it would be incredible to have them in the game, personally!
Well, it kind of sucks when your favorite primarch got his head cut off and absolutely, positively is not coming back.
Where did you get those rumors from? I can’t find anything similar to them on any reliable rumor monger/tracker…
Our source must remain anonymous.
And remember, these are rumors so don’t get too attached to them at this early stage.
These rumors have all been going around for a while and have been hinted at by a number of reputable sites and rumor-mongers. They’re out there if you look. Doesn’t mean they’ll all come true but it sounds like there will at least be somewhat of a shakeup of the 40k storyline/game which is a welcome change if it doesn’t go too far.
I think having two formats would be great for the game to help bring in newer players.
With the dust all settled, I wouldn’t mind an AoS-style version of 40k. That’s not to say replace 40k completely, but offer two different playstyles. Your more traditional, competitive style game (hopefully with a little less rules-bloat and some more balance) as well as a much more casual ruleset. AoS is starting to shape up decently I think they just turned people off a) by completely kill WHFB and b) by releasing it without any of the structure and balance and forcing people to only play that style without any guarantee it would get better.
A 2-3 track system like the General’s Handbook seems to provide would be awesome for 40K.
Any schedule on releases for 40K? Actual updates to armies in need? I saw CSM would be in September but hoping DE will get one this year as well. Since you guys did put forth that rumor earlier on DE.
Have heard nothing on that front, sorry.
Actually I would love to hear what you guys would want from a CSM update. Think I’very heard just about everyone else weigh in at some point but I’very never seen it from the ITC. I imagine it would be less wish list than most.
We just want some fun, characterful, effective rules! I could write an article on it, for sure.
Oh and maybe use your TO connections with GW to pass them along to the rules team. ?
Any chance we could get a look at more lists from BAO? I would like to see some of the top Necron lists to see what’s working for people.
Pablo is working on some list tech articles. Please just hang tight while he gets them together. We just got home last night =)
Hmmm… does this “Time of Ending” replace Warzone Fenris 2 I wonder?
Sounds like 8th will be “42K”
And if they don’t want to totally freak out their player base, maybe they shouldn’t use a trigger word like “ending” after what happened to WFB lol
I’m wondering if we’ll see something like what happened from 2nd – 3rd editions. It’s funny to think that we’re actually using a simplified rule set already! … just with almost 20 years of layers pasted onto it…
Yeah, we’ll see. Just remember, these are rumors, subject to change or just being flat wrong. However, these are bouncing around the net quite a bit!
Awww it’s all rampant speculation – but it’s in good fun. Hopefully that’s why we spend so much time doing this stuff anyway.
You guys sure seem pumped!
Yeah, I hope these are accurate! So cool if so.
Anyone else hearing Billy Mays projecting through Reece?
Get yer Sham-wow!!!
But wait! There’s more!
A proper Dorn model ought to be in his Centurion Armor. Text to Speech needs to become semi canon.
But more importantly I hope this “time of ending” gives some love for the plasticly challenged factions like Sisters, CSMs, and many of the xenos factions instead of just more space marine kits.
I just hope they don’t do like they did to fantasy and make all this stuff for the end times/time of ending then 2 months later invalidate it all with the new ruleset.
Considering how the top armies always are, I’d like to see more formations allowed, I don’t think it’d do anything but help shake up the top armies, and also give more room for the under performing armies (that don’t have formations 2-3 that eat 1500-2500pts if they want them to)
All That’ll happen with more formations is that deathstars will become even stronger with more sources to combine in a superfriends combo.
If they got rid of battle brothers, then yes, have as many sources as you want. But as of right now allowing more sources will only make strong armies stronger and not really do anything to help the weaker ones.
I completely disagree with you on that point, if you notice the current winners had nearly pure options for their choices, because within the space marine codex, between three formations they can already fill any possible weakness they might have if they want to.
Take the winning DA list, if I’m not mistaken, he could use another formation if he had wanted to as he only had “two” for the purposes of ITC. (sure he used three formations, but only two counted towards the limit)
I’d love to see a re-vote on the more than 3, and also I wouldn’t mind if they said three formations also include sub formations…
But if they did that it WOULD reduce the space marine power immediately. so that won’t get approved I promise you that. Which should tell you something about the players voting against the increase of the cap on formations.
Just look at alot of winning lists from space marines, even the “pure faction” lists, they tend to have four or more total formations, even if some are subformations.
And I’ll give you this as a tau player, I’m salty as hell I don’t get any formations that give me free shit.
I would love a formation that let me take some free devil fishes and gave ob sec to literally everything.
-ROGAL DORN is going to be the first loyalist release. This is going to be a plastic kit specifically designed for 40k. He’ll be missing one of his hands, in it’s place will be a ranged weapon of some kind (this detail was quite sketchy however)
As an Imperial Fists and Black Templar player, I have to day this sounds really, really dumb. Really. Like, super dumb.
It sounds like they need Primarchs to pair off with their Daemon Prince brothers, but this is a dumb way to do it.
Did I mention dumb? 🙂
Haha, fair enough. However, please remember that these are rumors, subject to change.
Understood, Reecius. it just hurts me in my Dorn…. 🙂
So freaking funny. This was a great episode and the one time you don’t preface it! Missed opportunity :p
