Thanks for putting this up! Fantastic report. I liked that there was less commentary and more talk between the players. It was insightful and entertaining to listen to as the game was unfolding.
Really cool AM list. A creative solution to the Deathstar problem with Psykana division summoning daemons to tarpit. Congrats on the win!
However, like you guys said, if any one of the half dozen things had gone the SM army’s way, that ball of bikes would be basically unkillable AND obsec. Another example of why we really need to more aggressively tackle the tools that make deathstars unfun to play against.
Nerfing psychic powers aside, I think it’d be interesting to get rid of battle brothers in ITC for competitive play. It really does unfairly favor Imperium which have a dozen options to choose from when creating unit/character combos, while Xenos have to rely on their own codexes alone. Getting rid of Dark Eldar webway portal taxi service for Eldar would be a good thing too. The overlapping of special rules can get quite convoluted. (obviously we can make an exception for Admech/Skitarii since they are intended to be played as one faction).
Food for thought.
Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, my list had to bring some serious cheese to counter Thomas’ toned down cheese! haha
You are so right about the BB.
Guys , what would you think of a 1 source tournament ? Formations allowed but no benifits from them? I’m the local TO and had to cancel the last event for lack of participation :(. I think formations , BB and allies in general are really breaking the game. It has really devolved into a race for the best broken combo so I can steamroll everyone. This is a shame as I have an easy $ 5000.00 in models. All the guys I started with have all quit. These are Guys playing since 2nd edition. One is a guy who’s one at least a dozen GT’s , even he has lost interest.
I love this game , the models the fluff all of it. I think ITC is a big step in the right direction but might want to consider an alternate format , one much more restrictive . Put it out and see what people think. One thought also is to up the warp charge by 1 on some of the more abusive physic powers , limit summoning (I love what they have done to it in (AOS) and perhaps make deny the witch on 5’s. Just a sugestion howeve but somebody should do something and I think the frontline guys are the most qualified with the best insight.
Hey man, it sucks to hear your friends have quit. It’s hard when you cant share your passion with them anymore.
There is hope for your tournament scene though. You may already know this, but can run your tournament with all the rules restrictions you just mentioned and still have it count as an ITC event. The first rule of ITC is you can change any rule in the ITC for your event. Try doing those restrictions to see if it entices people back.
An environment where broken combos arent viable will definitely entice people back. You should give it a shot. In the meantime, know that the rumor mills are giving strong indications that 8th ed will come next year and overhaul the rules to combat the bloat and brokenness of the game. Stay strong!
Give it a whirl and see how it goes!
Reece, finish your Vultures man! Lol
I know, right?1 lol. I just have so little time for hobbying.
This AM list made me want to fiddle with the Psykana Division, to go with my MT Army.
The Psykana Division is NUTS. Easily one of the better formations in the game.
It is fairly good and one of the best “cast a power” formations in the game due to its bonuses, but the fact that it is composed of grounds of Guardsmen bodies is a big limiter on it- any kind of firepower at all will wipe it off the table in short order. The fact that each Wyrdvane only knows one power (plus Primaris, obv) limits what you have access to, especially compared to something like a Conclave where it’s easy to get access to 6-10 total power rolls.
Yup, good point. That is why I only plan on the Primaris power for them, which so far, has worked great. I have yet to lose a game with this army.
I was wondering how to hide these guys. That’s a whole bunch of squishie bodies that can’t be put it any sort of safe box.
Is there an army list?
What models do you use for the Psykana Devision? GW has like 3 Psykers and while you can find some pretty neat psykers from other sources I never saw any that made whole units of the guys.
