Hello all, we are beginning our Age of Sigmar learning league end of month games and I wanted to go over one of the scenarios I have created using the ITC 40k missions as a template.
The idea is that by playing scenarios that have multiple ways of scoring it will lead to games being more than just scrums in the middle of the board, which is generally what happens in Age of Sigmar games. Most of the scenarios given in the books that have come out have the primary objective being to wipe out your opponent’s forces. Below, you can view the first of three AoS ITC Scenarios that we will be using for our first best of three games. Please take a look and let me know what you think.
AoS ITC Scenario 1
- Step 1. Adjust and define terrain with your opponent. Roll for Mysterious Landscapes if you both agree to include them in your game.
- Step 2. Roll for deployment zones. HORIZONTAL TABLE SPLIT
- Step 3. Place Objectives using normal objective placement rules as modified below.
- An objective is placed in the center of the table, numbered 1.
- Each player places 1 objective in their opponent’s deployment zone, these should be numbered 2 and 3.
- Step 4. Nominate your general.
- Step 5. Roll for deployment. The player that wins the roll can choose to place their models first or second. The player going first then deploys their first unit and alternates unit placement until all units from both players have been placed on the table.
- Step 6. Roll for the initiative. The player that placed all of their units before their opponent gets a +1 to their roll. The winner begins the first Battle Round. Games lasts for 5 Battle Rounds.
Primary Mission: Favor – 4 Mission Points if achieved, 0 pts if lost or tied. Each enemy warscroll destroyed by units from your army grants you favor from your gods or patron. The player with the most favor at the end of the game wins the primary mission.
Secondary Mission: Objectives – 4 Mission Points if achieved, 0 pts if lost or tied. At the beginning of each Battle Round, both players roll twice on this table. Reroll the second roll if it is the same number as the first. Note the result below. At the end of each Battle Round, each player earns 1 pt per Maelstrom Mission achieved. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins this mission. Warscrolls may only claim one objective at a time. Players claim an objective if they at least one warscroll within 3” of an objective that is not in combat. Objectives with warscrolls from both players claiming them are nullified and do not grant points to either player.
- Hold Objective 1
- Hold Objective 2
- Hold Objective 3
- Have more warscrolls at least partially further than 24″ from your deployment table edge than your opponent.
- Have a warscroll at least partially within 12″ of opponent’s deployment edge.
- Have 3 of your own and no enemy scoring units at least partially within 12″ of your deployment edge.
Turn 1 Secondary Objectives: ______/______
Turn 2 Secondary Objectives: ______/______
Turn 3 Secondary Objectives: ______/______
Turn 4 Secondary Objectives: ______/______
Turn 5 Secondary Objectives: ______/______
Bonus Points: 1 Mission Point each: Gore Soaked (Kill your opponent’s highest wounded warscroll) , Linebreaker (Have a warscroll within 12” of your opponents table edge), Table Quarters (Have more warscrolls in a table quarter than your opponent).
What do you think? Does this look fun or no?
I like it! It will be interesting to see how you guys choose to play this scenario with such small armies. At least on paper, it looks as though some will struggle more than others (I’m thinking Brandon and Frankie), but with the maelstrom element, who knows what’ll happen! Will you be using any of the AoS-specific terrain?
I love it. I plan on trying this out the next time I play AoS.
Let us know how you like it!
What will the standard point size be for ITC AOS games/events?
We’re going right out of the GHB, 2,000 points.
I like it, granted it’s just Kill Points but I guess that’s a first draft. Is there a ITC AoS equivalent to the 40K Army Building Restrictions and FAQ document yet? If so can I get a link?
