Hello all, Jason here to talk about the units Pablo chose for his first 25 wound Age of Sigmar Warband.
For those of you who are not aware, the FLG staff have decided to jump into the Age of Sigmar head first and start a 4 month learning league. The only modification to the current 4 page ruleset is the implementation of wounds being the list building tool at least until the organized play ruleset is released this summer. You can read all about the league here. I wanted to write a little bit about the models everyone has chosen for their warband and some of the reasons they chose them for their first 25 wounds. Today we look at Pablo’s choices for his Stormcast Eternal warband.
First up we have Pablo’s hero choice, the Knight-Venator
This flying Hero carrys the standard low level character wound count of 5 but pumps out as much firepower as a full strength missile unit. The Knight-Venator himself puts out 3 shots at 30″ that hit on a 2+ and wound on a 3+ and are -1 rend. Not too bad, as he can put a serious hurting on other low level, low armor heroes on the field. His Star Eagle has it’s own 3 attacks at 30″ and while it doesn’t hit or wound as easily if it rolls a 6 to wound it rends at a -3. OUCH! The Knight-Venator may make a special attack once per game with his Star-Fated Arrow that does a single shot at damage d3+3 or d6+3 if he is shooting at a hero or monster. Say by to your low wound hero or monster, you’s jabronies!
Next up Pablo continues his wall of death theme with a unit of 5 Judicators.
Judicators, like most Stormcast Eternal models, come with 2 wounds a piece and a save of a 4+. Pablo is taking this unit with Skybolt Bows, which are ranged 24″ and have a rend -1. Perfect for taking out lightly armored foes or low level heroes. If they are firing at units with the CHAOS keyword, the Judicators re-roll to hit rolls of 1. Not good for my Khorne Bloodbound!
Last but not least, Pablo brings in the big guns with a unit of Judicators with Boltstorm Crossbows!
Though they have a shorter range than their Skybolt Bow armed brothers, they put out double the amount of attacks. If the unit does not move they add 1 to each of their to hit and to wound rolls, making them very accurate and deadly. Pablo can also arm one of the squad with a Shockbolt Bow that has the potential to do 6 -1 rend wounds for every hit. BLAST IT!
So there you have it! Pablo’s first 25 wound warband for his Stormcast Eternals. What do you think of his all ranged list? Does it have the stopping power to take out the assault armies in the league?
