Today we’ve got a well rounded Astra Militarum list and a Chaos Marine list that has some similarities to one I used to run. Lets see how these two lists pan out.

I drop the priests and psykers into the blob and march em up the board. With the psykers I try to get forewarning to give the blob a solid invul (and if I’m lucky endurance) and then the priests to get em to re-roll the invul in CC (double up on them to make it consistent). The culexus goes into the vendetta which flys around negating psychic spells.
I think this is a really well rounded list you have a close combat unit, anti air and a ton of anti ground targets. The Beast Hunter Shells are great against armies like Tau and Battle Company which are very popular. The power blob is awesome but will crumble pretty fast if you don’t get Forewarning off. The Vulture is the best flier out there in my opinion and pairs up well with Wyverns. The Culexus is a must take as well due to all the psychic deathstars we are seeing. He will be able to turn off there powers for one turn while you hit them with everything in your army.
I actually wouldn’t change anything about this list. I think it is super strong and very well rounded. I think your toughest match-ups will be Battle Company and Deathstars. If you can place the Culexus in the right spot at the right time you should be able to handle any star but it will be very difficult otherwise. The blob is really dependent on you getting Forewarning so be careful when playing with it. You don’t want to over extend yourself and have the power fail. Otherwise this list is going to do very well.

Alright! This list is awesome and one that I could see myself playing. The Plague Zombies are amazing! Especially paired up with shrouding from Be’lakor. I am happy to see you taking an expensive beat stick Daemon Prince I still try to make mine work as well. Plague Marines have been the best Cult troop in Chaos for a long time and for sure still are. The one thing I don’t like about this list is you aren’t taking the sacred number of Plague Marines. You need to add one more to those units, haha.
Okay so things I would change. As much as I like the Daemon Prince and would love for him to work he is just to expensive and will die before doing anything in most games. You can easily trade him for another Plague Marine unit and even some more Obliterators. I would also run two Melta Guns on the Plague Marines. Though I like the Power Weapons on the Plague Champions because they survive in most challenges and will be able to swing, I usually run Powerfists. Other than those minor changes I think you have a fun and solid list. It will do fairly well and win more games than it will lose. Unfortunately it is Chaos and struggle against a lot of the top tier armies. Go do Nurgle’s work son!

Can the Assassin start the game in the vendetta since the new FAQ?
Nope, and his aura doesn’t extend from it either if he does get in
But the new FAQ isn’t official yet, it’s still in the draft phase.
Dirty Deeds is correct it is currently just a draft. We will see what the final FAQ says.
Don’t forget that, ostensibly, the reason for an FAQ is to clarify what they originally intended – not rebalance the game. Also, they put out the drafts and asked for feedback on clarity (not whether people liked the rules). So don’t expect them to all of a sudden reverse a bunch of the rulings just because people didn’t like them.
I can’t believe there hasn’t been more talk about them FAQing transport auras away. There were quite a few people that were using it as cheese to extend aura radiuses and that isn’t going to be a thing anymore.
Why not run the Vendetta from the Armored Battlegroup list, since you’re already running the ABG (which is amazing)? It retains the old transport capacity and a significantly cheaper point cost. You could put lascannons on your tanks and have some change to spare if you did that. Other than that I really like the IG list. I’ve been trying something very similar lately and I think the key to a good Guard army is, as your list already reflects, ABG allies. Those beast hunter shells do so much work, not to mention the regular Vanquisher cannon. That command/commissar tank variant is really the only Russ I think is worth running, but boy is it worth it.
Thats my IG list I submitted awhile ago and its been working out pretty well for me. I didnt even realize the point difference with the Vendetta so thanks for the tip right there! As for all the faqs making auras obsolete from vehicles… yea, I guess thats just a bridge ill have to cross when I get there. If I had to scrap the culexus I’d probably get a dark angels cad in there with Azrael (dropping the psykers) and getting a guaranteed 4++ on my blob so I wouldnt have to depend on my psyker rolls.
This Guard list is VERY similar to the one I’m currently running. I’m running Armored battle group w/ the Emperors wrath Artillery formation. Those Beast Killer Vanquishers are NO JOKE. I stopped running the Crulxus Assassin however but I might bring him back if i find the need to hard counter psy powers. It is just hard to justify an entire detachment for one model.
