Nick brings out his brand spanking new Daemons to take on Logan’s freshly built double Stormsurge list! Can immense levels of firepower overcome the immovable object that is a 2+ rerollable invulnerable save!?
Be sure to check out the Tactics Corner for more great video bat reps.
Did he not sub out the 3+ armor for a MC +1 S weapon?
Double ‘Surge, riptide wing, drone babysitter commander. SNORE. Can we please get something new for once? Crisis suits, broadsides, Shadowsun, ghostkeels, ANYTHING.
Problem is now that ITC nerfed CFP, no competitive tournament list will be using Hunter Contingent. Its going to be all riptide wings and drone networks or CADs
Good, show me some CADs with drone networks and OpStealth cadres. Something different. Broadsides aren’t any less useful than they were before, either.
CADs haven’t done well for Tau for a long time now, and the OpStealth is decent but very vulnerable to melee threats and weight of firepower. Broadsides suffer badly against morale tactics and don’t have enough guns to punish an all-reserves army (like Drop Pods), much less such an army that can potentially manage fist-turn assaults.
If people wanted more variety of Tau builds, they shouldn’t have voted to negate the advantages of so many Tau builds. Between nonfunctional Markerlights, fragile/slow Piranhas, giving up tons of Maelstrom points on Stormsurges, and Combined Fire being as powerful as a single Markerlight, what on earth did you THINK was going to happen?
Can confirm Ghostkeel vulnerability to assault. Weight of fire isn’t as much of an issue at T5 and having a 2+ cover save pretty much always. Really the issue is actually less the other Tau nerfs and more the fact that Riptide wing is actually BONKERS. I mean, OSC is good but riptide wing is amazing.
Well what I thought/hoped would happen is people would realized tau got nerfed into the ground with these ‘clarifications’ and that even with them going in tau’s favor would still not be super overpowered like imperial armies or eldar.
Instead I’m still seeing ignorant cries of brokenness everywhere and all tau lists boiling down to literally one formation and/or one specific unit AGAIN. Except this time instead of firebase and riptide it’s riptide wing and stormsurge.
Why would anyone pay 610+ points for optimized stealth cadre when you can pay just a few more 2 stormsurges or 100 less for 3 riptides
I pay 345 for my OSC. I’ve had some pretty good success with it.
Because riptides require an assload of markerlight support that’s gonna eat up that 100 points and more, and you can only have 1 unit of gmc.
Personally I’m building up a retaliation cadre + drone net + ghostkeel wing and liking how it’s coming out.
Chances are we’ll do some 1500pt games soon with some folks who are newer to the game – there will still be Riptides, but you’ll see some Broadsides and maybe OSC if I ever get my Ghostkeel built!
Yeah tau kind of just default to using their big guys now. The rest of the codex is actually good but you rarely see it and it’s not because of ITC. From personal experience we’d still be seeing this stuff just with the benefits of a buffmander on top of it. Their MCS are just the most efficient firing platforms they have so they spam them.
Where have all the real Tau commanders gone :). Tired of seeing White Scar battle company from Marine players too. I’m down with BC if you want, just do something else besides scars please!
So you want people to field sub optimal versions of their army in a competitive format / setting? Lol
Don’t get me wrong it would be nice to see variety but in the context of fluff army, or something of that nature would be more likely. Can’t blame someone for utilizing the best units and best rules for a particular army imo
I guess if min max and squeeeking every minute advantage possible is the only chance of winning for some folks then, by all means, they should go for it. 🙂 There is a HUGE difference between “sub optimal” and “sucks ass.” The sad point is, that most of the players who try to netlist the most efficient build possible point wise (not referring the folks in this vid btw) wouldn’t make top tables in a competitive environment anyways.
Play something else. Deviate (a bit, I’m not saying gimp too much) from the norm. Dare to try something other than what the overlords say to try ESPECIALLY if you are going to post a video about your exploits for all to see and don’t want people to **yawn** about it.
Yeah, the guys at the top like the two LVO lists are filled with all kinds of crazy, off-the-wall, never-before-seen types of units such as…
Er…
…Thirty Warp Spiders and a Wraithknight.
Or, you know, the Corpsethief Claw formation. But we can’t all be Sean Nayden. The beard is legen…wait for it….DARY
Yes, but what was that Corpsethief allied with?
Oh that’s right, generic Eldar.
Cheers, I enjoy the battle reports 1+ Armour! Keep’em up.
Thanks! Lots more coming soon!
