LVO Day 2 Live Coverage

Happy Saturday everyone and welcome to day 2 of the 2016 Las Vegas Open. Petey Pab here with all your 40k Championship news coverage needs.

Tune into our twitch channel for our top 8 announcement and closing statements! http://www.twitch.tv/frontlinegaming_tv

Edit Saturday day 2 6:30pm Round 6 Update. Hey guys! Petey Pab here bringing you analysis on the top 8 tables. The round is almost over and pretty soon we will have our top 8 players heading into day 3. Alright guys day 2 is a wrap! Winners are in Bold

Table 1: Steve Sisk (Special Razorback Blue Scars BC) vs. Anthony D’omore (Pod Battle Company, Skyhammer?, Coteaz) Unfortunately I was unable to look at Anthony’s list so I am sorry if I got it wrong. A battle company match with two completely different styles of play. Both lists look like they hit hard, Sisk’s list seems more mobile due to Anthony’s abundance of pods but who knows? He didn’t make it to the top table for nothing. [Edge; Steve Sisk]            Winner: Steve Sisk 7-5

Table 2: Benjamin Vizcarra (Pod BC, Anti-Air force, Raptor Wing) vs. Alex Harrison (45 Warp Spiders(!), Warhost, Inq) Oh boy, Alex Harrison is a great player with a very cheesy Eldar list. Warp spider spam is a very common thing in the European scene and even though ITC nerfed them they are still very strong. Hopefully Ben has the models and experience to outwit the wily Eldar. [Edge; Alex Harrison]                                                                                                            Winner: Alex Harrison 11-2

Table 3: Andrew Gonyo (Farsight Enclave, Ghostkeel, Eldar Aspect Host) vs. Alan PjPants Bajromovic (Double Deamon CAD, Fateweaver, Be’lakor, D-thirster and friends) I like Andrew’s list a lot but I think Pajamapants has all the tools he needs to win, the warp spiders from the aspect host are Andrew’s trump card and he has to use them well in the final turns to beat the frontrunner to win the LVO. [Edge Alan Bajromovic]                                                                  Winner: Alan PjPants Bajramovic 11-1

Table 4: Alexander Fennell (The Pink Decurion, Destroyer Cult, Royal Court, C. Harvest) vs. Thomas Ogden (Riptidewing, CAD w/2x Stormsurges) Alex Fennell is a class act, and knows how to play the game of 40k while also having a good time with his opponent. He is running a resilient list and it’s up to Thomas’ stormsurges to save the day because it doesn’t really look like Alex has the firepower to be able to kill them both. [Edge; Alex Fennell]               Winner: Alexander Fennell 11-2

Table 5: Gareth Hunt (Renegades Zombie Spam, Chaos Knight, VSG) vs. Sean Nayden (Shifty Wraithknight-less Eldar, Corpse-thief claw) The defending LVO champion has a mobile, shifty list and is in my opinion a nightmare matchup for Gareth’s immobile list. I don’t think a lot of models are going to die by the end of this one, but I do think Sean is going to kill the right ones. [Edge; Sean Nayden]                                                                                                                Winner: Sean Nayden 10-2

Table 6: William Abilez (Eldar CAD w/serious firepower) vs. Brad Chester (Eldar w/DE allies WK and venoms) William is fresh off a convincing win over Cooper Waddell our number 3 ranked ITC player and his list has a lot of shooting and mobility. Warwalkers, Scatbikes, A wraithknight, and other Eldar shooting goodies is enough to shoot any army off the board. Brad needs to rely on his wit and mobility to pull off the win here. The last time I checked this game Brad had his army scattered every where across the board which means he is trying to limit Will’s firepower in key areas. [Edge: William Abilez]                                                                                                                                  Winner: Brad Chester 10-1

Table 7: Julio Rodriguez (BC, Great Wolf Detachment, Cullexus) vs. Jonathan Comacho (Decurion w/ An Obelisk, and Monolith) This is a strange list Jonathan is running, he still has Necron durability but he has the option to be mobile and also shoot units off the board. A normal BC list would have a hard time but Julio’s mini-thunderdome gives him the tools necessary to pull off a win….That Necron list though…. [Edge: Julio Rodriguez]                                   Winner: Jonathan Comacho 11-1

Table 8: Matt Robertson (45 warp spider spam, WK, bikes) vs. Aaron Aelong (Ravenwing/Space Wolf/Libby Conclave Deathsar) This is the hardest match to predict because these are both allstar players with great lists. Aaron Aelong clawed his way out of the hole he was put in from his early loss to become the player with the highest amount of points with a single loss. Matt has a great mobile list and even has the fire power necessary to kill Aaron’s deathstar, this match should be close and Aaron Needs to rely on consistent psychic powers to maintain his board position. [Edge; Matt Robertson]                                                                                                                                                  Winner: Aaron Aelong 10-1

Edit Saturday day 2 3pm Round 5 update. For Round 5 we have Geoff “Incontrol” (Twitch) Robinson versus one of the nicest players I have met so far Patrick Mcaneeny and his battle company. Geoff certainly knows his way around this matchup and Patrick is in for a real tough fight because Incontrol needs to score as many points as he can in his final two games. The gloves are off and can Patrick pull off what would be Incontrol’s second upset loss of the tournament? We will see, lists below. Update: Geoff Wins 7-4, this low point win solidifies Geoff’s place at the top of his category (Allies of the Imperium) for the ITC however he no longer has a legitimate shot at making a top 8 appearance except as an alternate.

Battle Company

Geoff

War Convocation

Inquisitorial Detachment

Flesh Tearers

Edit Saturday Day 2 2pm  Round 4 update. We had a lot of intense games in round 4 including a PjPants winning a nail biter against Kurt Claussvand his Eldar. Keep in touch for round 6 and my day 2 recap where I will discuss key highlights for day 2, Top 8 players and lists, and a meta breakdown of the armies that appeared in the LVO.

Edit Saturday Day 2 10am  Round 4 update. Our featured match today is going to be the number 4 ranked ITC player Steve Sisk and his white scars battle company versus our 27th ranked player Ben Cromwell who is fresh off of knocking our 10th ranked ITC player Wesley Pauley. Ben is running a War Convocation with two imperial knights (Yes it’s possible). Head over to our twitch stream http://www.twitch.tv/frontlinegaming_tv for the live match, lists will be posted soon.

Update: Steve Sisk wins 11-1 in a critical round 4 matchup. Steve outflanked his entire battle company and wiped out Ben’s non-Imperial Knight units with his powerful beta strike.
