+ HQ (34pts) +
Ordo Xenos Inquisitor (34pts) [Bolt Pistol, Carapace Armour, Chainsword, 3x Servo Skulls]
For this list, I am using the inquisitor just for the servo skulls for the drop pods and assault squads to jump in close enough to charge/shoot whatever they need to while giving the pods and easier chance at hitting the objectives. The battle company, I have 8 rhinos/razors that I can use but went with 7 and 1 pod for the tactical squads (giving me 3 pods turn 1 if I go first or 1 pod if I want to null deploy and reserve for turn 2 if I really have to).
Only had enough points to have 3 of the 5 razorbacks upgraded for assault cannons, and I picked this instead of TLLC or Las/Plas as this can give me more shots and has rending as well.
I also chose the landspeeder with 1 heavy flamer for one of my assault choices instead of an attack bike as this would only let the bike go with bolters instead of 1 shot with a multi-melta.
great podcast as always 🙂
I will be getting the powerfist / plasma annihilator / missile pack for the Warlord.. he deserves it.
Yeah, he does! =P
nice podcast..yay 400:). you like the standard imperial fists over the sentinels of terra for the sky hammer?
and… wow, 360 or so in the 40k at LVO hot damn. 2017 for me.
Also.. IC wraith seer, join a unit of wraith blades with axes and cast feel no pain on the unit? then get buffs from spirit seers so..2+ armour maybe? +3 run?
Take the spirit seer in the mimer book with three wraith blade units as a core choice and get 6inch runs for a whole wraith based warhost army…yikes.
Sentinels of Terra is a good consideration but often I am firing at max range, in which case you don’t get the benefit from Sentinels (which only applies at half range). And yeah, wow, that combo with the Wraithseer sounds nasty!
I can hardly believe people are wielding the nerf-hammer on the piranha formation already. Didn’t the French Overlord post a report of him playing against the top ITC tau player who was running that and they tied the game? Kind of impossible to see how that is so OP that it needs nerfing on so little evidence.
As for failure to interact, what is the issue as you can never interact with stuff that is in reserves. Are we using that basis to ban null deploy armies that always try to go second and leave me nothing at all to interact with for a chunk of the game? If someone genuinely can’t handle a few light skimmers hiding in reserves for a late game objective grab then they need help, not just to have the latest symptom of their problem banned.
While the unit has a rule giving it express permission to leave the table if within 6″ of a table edge, it does not have a rule giving it express permission to leave the table the same turn it enters play (in general, models may not enter and leave play in the same turn). This is the conflict. There is at least one unit with the ability to enter and leave play in the same turn. That unit has express permission to do so. Since the piranha formation does not have express permission to enter and leave play in the same turn, it may not do so.
‘Failure to interact’ is not what drove the decision-making process.
Just because hardly any units can do something does not mean there is a general rule against it. Flyers can’t pull off this trick because their rules explicitly forbid it, where is the general rule that would apply to non-flyers?
As Reece says in the podcast the piranha formation rules do allow it, if he and I are wrong and missed a rule somewhere please give us the reference.
Not to mention that Tyranids (and I think Daemons) have been able to pull this trick for years without it ruining the game. There is no generic “can’t leave when you arrive” rule, only specific iterations for certain unit types moving certain ways.
Also, let’s not forget that drones are non-scoring units with weak melee stats and poor Leadership. It’s not like there aren’t ways to deal with them.
They were not playing the formation as being able to fly off the turn it came on
I thought he said they were off the table after turn 1 until turn 5 – which would be the on-again-off-again trick. Just looked back and can’t see where he says any different.
Of course if you were there and know different then fair enough; I was not and am only going by what was posted here.
Kdk plus tau should be itc legal.
They are desperate allies not come the apoc.
Then I misspoke. Thought they were CtA off of the top of my head.
Daemons are CtA, but CSM (and hence KDK) are Desperate I’m pretty sure.
