  1. scruff gooseberry

That game was so shit. I’m sorry I don’t have anything more constructive to add. That does not look fun at all and makes me not only never want to play AoS, it also makes me fearful of what GW will do to 40k going forward.

  2. So, may I make a few suggestions if you guys decide to keep playing this.

First, play with a battleplan or with objectives. Just like 40k the game is a lot more fun with one of the scenarios or when it is objective based. This can also be accomplished through a comp system like clash of blades.

Second, is to use a comp system to calculate your armies. Clash of blades has a decent one as well as the website war of sigmar.

Third, this game is still new I think with time the comp systems will get to a place where it could be fantastic. Already there are some really promising things on the internet. The thing is it will take the community to get it done as GW seems to have no interst in balancing.

    1. This. Not playing with battleplans and realm rules is like playing any game out of the starter box with only the introduction leaflet and no main rulebook – aka boring.

      1. I don’t think you have to massively comp it. We’ve played it loads in my group and beyond quick and easy conversation between players prior and during the game it’s worked great.

  3. Been playing games as per Rawdogger’s setup with 50 wounds, and a limit of 2 hero, 2 monster, 2 wizard traits total, and picking from the scenarios. The dynamic of terrain buffs is a cool facet to the game – everyone has been having a great time. Maybe we can get some Battle Reports made at this end 🙂

  4. Better yet, why not just write a points system for the game?
In all honesty though, I had planned on getting into fantasy cause alot of my friends were into it. But since AOS they’ve all sold their armies & moved onto either Infinity, Warmahordes or X Wing.

  5. Man… Age of Sigmar is just hard to watch. I appreciate FLG giving it a chance and all but wow, it’s so far away from being a complete, good game.

  6. Try this: http://www.scrollbuilder.com

But make lists that are over by 5 scrolls, then play games at 15 points but with a 5 point “sidebar”, this way as you play a series of games you can moderately tweet your list as you play from game to game, if you were looking for a tournament style game…

  7. Will you guys ever consider giving Kings of War a try? That seems to be what’s replacing competitive Warhammer Fantasy in a lot of regions.

  8. You guys really need to use a scenario rather than only the base rules. The game is very different when you have objectives or some interesting goal rather than just “pile in and kill everyone”. Some open up new abilities and make the terrain more interesting. They also call for a lot more tactics and different strategies.

Playing like you did here really isn’t giving the game a fair shot. It would be like playing 40k with no objectives, just kill each other. Not nearly as fun.

    1. We tried a scenario in the last battle, still ended up as a scrum in the middle =/

We want to like the game, we’re giving it multiple chances, but so far the game itself seems a bit dull. I really want to like it, though. Willing to try different play styles.
