In this battle report, the brave soldiery of the Imperium stand up to the terrifying, and overpowering might of the Tyranid Swarm. Can they stand stalwart in the face of certain death and consumption? Will the Emperor’s Hammer crush the enemy like the insects they are? Perhaps, perhaps not. Against the Tyranids, there is no hope for victory, only a delay of the inevitable. Be sure to check out the Tactics Corner for more great video bat reps!
Hey reece, quick note on your no warlord situation…you have to have one. The rule on page 124 (of small rulebook) states “If you do not have any character models in your army, then select any other model in your army to be the warlord.”
Cheers,
ligs
Oops i spoke too soon, looks like you chose a ripper and I missed that!
Yeah, tuend out to be a terrible idea, lol!
If you’re running a Nid List with no Characters, make your Warlord a Spore Mine. They don’t give up ANY VPs for being killed 😉
Hello, long time lurker, decided to join so I can throw in my two pence every now and then.
This was painful to watch. I love my Tyranids and so always root for them, but damn that luck was terrible. I know the other guy doesn’t mean anything by it, but it really really is a pet peeve of mine when people are like “roll ones” and then I do. I know they haven’t jinxed me, I know it’s friendly “banter”, but it still just rubs me the wrong way. So when he kept doing it to you and it kept happening I was just cringing.
Still, good to see a Tyranid foot list still having a good shout despite poor luck and arguably a terrible Warlord choice.
Anyhow, love your content guys. Look forward to more!
Oh no worries, that was an AWFUL Warlord choice, lol! I did it to be funny and it bit me in the butt! My dice went ice cold mid game, haha, but hey, that happens. Glad you enjoyed the video and you will certainly be seeing more of my Nids. I really enjoy playing that army quite a bit.
I play a home brew rule with one buddy that charge distance is 6″ + optional D6″. There are extra penalties for rolling a 1 on the optional D6. It’s honestly a fantastic iteration of the rule.
Yeah, I HATE random charge length, haha, such a fickle game mechanic.
fun game but hard to take reece’s list serious.. I know you like playing different lists but >_<
This is the problem with nids.
What are some ways this list could be better? How do we make it competitive?
Well let’s see, he should definitely replace the Tervigon with a Flying Hive Tyrant.
The Hive Guard are pretty trash units, so he should replace those and one squad of Gants with a Flying Hive Tyrant.
Carnifexes with Devourers? Man, those are strong. What would make them stronger? Wings and a Haywire Template.
Fair enough, but I do enjoy my different lists. The Hive Guard actually did quite well, this game. Besides the one round where I rolled 6 of 6 misses, lol, but that can’t really be helped. And yes, Flyrants are clearly the all-star of the Nid dex, but I prefer to play different lists. I find it to be a lot more challenging and engaging.
I completely agree. I enjoyed watching this game, definitely! It’s fun to see unconventional lists played in the competitive format.
I feel like with PC wargames like Starcraft, builds are played over thousands of games. Who knows if unit X, Y, and Z are actually good in 40k, or if they just shit the bed a few times and have a bad rap?
I’m kind of curious how you used the Hive Guard. You always had them out in the open or visible but in cover. I’ve never played them before, but don’t they not require LoS?
Minor rules error I think, tyranid warriors don’t have move through cover-I think I saw 3 dice during the movment phase but overall a minor mistake if it even happened and a great game overall with fun lists.
I do sometimes forget which Nid units have MtC and which do not. It’s a bit randomly assigned. Thanks for the correction though, and glad you liked the game!
Personally, I don’t run ‘nids any more without spores. Not that they are all that powerful, but they are a lot of fun, and fit with almost any list (aside from the 5 flyrants + Malanthrope + Hierodule + filler)
