Both of those lists look very dirty. Going for Pods instead of Kastelans though?
Was looking forward to seeing some Reece luck and the Kastelans reflecting a D Shot at the Wraith Knight.
Haha, that would have been amazing! But yeah, no robots but with pods is a more consistently powerful combo, I think.
Seems ironic that the “tax” for the Ad Mech War Convocation is…the Ad Mech themselves (canticles excluded).
Oh dear, skitarii list is slightly illegal.
-Skitarii (still) cant have 2 relics per model. Im looking at you Infiltrator Princeps.
I also think Auspex is total no-brainer choice for the librarian. Additional -1 to cover saves really wrecks people when you take him with unit of drop podding skitarii.
I think the skull refers to the infoslave skull upgrade and not of Eldar Nikola
Yes, it is the Infoslave Skull. And I may swap to the Auspex, that is a solid idea.
why Baharroth? Not sure what he is giving that list.
I assume his main purpose will be for hit and run for the Seer Council
oh thats right he can move 18 now so he dost slow them down as much.
Hit and Run and Fearless and last turn objective grabbing with Skyleap, plus he can perform a number of other functions, too. He’s quite good, actually.
Sucks that he doesn’t come with an Invul save.
He can’t move 18in attached to the Seer Council. The whole unit needs to have wings to able to do that. He can still move 12in and run though.
They just have to stay in coherency.
sad I am missing this but have fun! Will watch vod later 🙂
I’m sorry but is this possibly real? I don’t have any of the admech codices so I can’t read up on the specifics of this ridiculous detachment. But it appears that they are insanely fast, insane rate of fire, insane str/ap on that firing, insane cover saves, re-rolling everything, army wide “psychic” powers in the canticles that can’t be denied and have no restrictions and are just flat insane benefits across the table, hundreds and hundreds of points of free wargear, ablative wounds, multi-wound damaging, marker lights, battle-brothers with allied drop pods….WHAT-THE-FUCK????? What in the world are people talking about 4+ RP and scatter lasers on jetbikes for, even d-flamers that are super expensive require a shitty little dark eldar tax and are basically one and done. Every time Reece explained what each unit had or did I literally vomited.
Lol, hey look,i found an eldar player! Cool your boots man, they are all squishy.
The canticles, skitarii orders, and free points just aren’t “blatant” like D weapons and scatter lasers so people just assume its not as good. There are many parts to the formation, but the sum just isn’t clear. I mean when you look at a unit of rust stalkers or infiltrators on their own, its ok, but really expensive, short range, and easily shot off the board(T3). Yet not in their profiles is all skitarii units will have crusader/scout (from the maniple formations) and the doctrina aren’t super blatant (I mean its at least +1 WS/BS every turn). The canticles are similar to the doctrina in their bonuses not being clear and points of the free upgrades are easily underestimated. Most people probably just assume its like 200 free points, but its a solid 550-600 points of good stuff for free when you math it out. Its not nearly as bad as 500 points of free units, but your skitarii list was going to take 200-300 of those points anyway.
The real strength of the formation becomes known when you play against it since all the bonuses are now in clear use all together vs being piecemeal.
This was a very good explanation to confirm my rant. When you take the time to look at everything together, the sum of all the parts, it’s completely busted and goes waaaaaay beyond Eldar cheese.
It’s the Drop Pods that make the list, honestly. Without them, Frankie could have deployed out of my Alpha Strike range and just owned me. The pods give me the reach and the range. Eldar are still–easily–the most powerful army in the game. Frankie had never really played them, only 1 other time back in 5th ed. He didn’t know what his army did or what my army did, either.
“This match will be decided by who goes first.” – Solid game, this 40k… 😛
It’s not always that way, particularly if you have good terrain.
Hopefully if the rumors are true, the ad mech will no longer be able to ride in drop pods when the new marine codex comes out next week. Then we will see how good as mech is as they were intended and not with every unit in drop pods like everyone seems to believe they were intended to be.
I agree. I will not be sad if they take Drop Pods away, it is a bit much.
Reece, how will that work with the Blood Angel and space wolves codexes. They won’t have the bulky and very bulky limitations. Is there discussion that Games Workshop will make it retroactive to those armies or is that something the itc plans to rule on
It is supposedly going to be an FAQ impacting all the books. We’ll see if it’s true.
Sounds like wishlisting. Gw doesn’t really have much history of doing this sort or errata. Well see though. From a fluff and playability standpoint I believe the change should be made. Time will tell
Hey I realy like the idea of the War Convocation, because I wondered how it work with 1850 Points. I wonder whether it is legal to drop the Kastelan Robot to get all the benefits. – please correct my if I am wrong but they are obligation to take … like I can not leave out the Necron Scarabs in the CANOPTEK HARVEST Formation ????
Yeah, you have to take all the units listed.
Kastelan Robots are not required for the formation, the Cult Mechanius detachment only requires 1 hq and 2 troops.
Wheras the Skitarii Battle Mantiple requires 1 unit of rangers, 1 unit of vanguard, 1 unit of rust stalkers, 1 unit of infiltrators, 1 unit of Dragoons or Bastillari, and 1 unit of dunecrawlers.
I feel the ITC should we consider allowing formation that allow free upgrades, especially to the degree that this war conversation does. The formation already comes with bonuses and to allow an army to take hundreds of points in free upgrades that their opponent isn’t getting is clearly an imbalance. It wasn’t as bad in the Blood Angels one because you were taking upgrades on weak units or requiring the build units to start or deploy in a certain way. This in comparison it’s just blatantly broken
Durn voice to text. You get it though lol
This most certainly flirts with it. Again though, it is the Drop Pods that make it. Take those away and this is still incredibly good, but not broken.
When will this be on YouTube ? I just cant get the twitch playback to work…
Out of curiosity on turn 2 you said everything had a 2+ save except for the Knight who wasn’t in terrain. The canticle doesn’t extend to skitarii right? Just confused as to how everyone else had a 2+save as well
