- First up is the Caledonian 45th Highlander Rifles from Ariadna. This is the third resculpt of the famous 45th. These guys are cheap, fast, chop-you-up troops. I am not sure the needed a resculpt and plenty of folks have been waiting years for other missing models to get their first let alone 3rd resculpt. Obviously these are beloved models at Corvus Bello HQ.
- Next is the resculpt of the Aquila Guard with HMG for Panoceania. He is a bulkier more imposing figure than the Babe Ruth version previously released. There is also a rumor that he may have a new profile including a panzerfaust to give him some anti-armor punch.
- The Fraacta Drop Unit with boarding shotgun is new. The Fraacta with combo-rifle is available in the new Combined Army starter but the boarding shotgun is great for up-in-your-face murder. The Fraacta are Tohaa who have sided with the EI when it took over part of the Tohaa systems and while the Tohaa view them as traitors, they see themselves as pragmatists at worst and liberators of their misguided brethren at best.
- The tiger soldier is a great new sculpt. The old ones weren’t very interesting but this one with back fins and a dynamic pose and just more weight to identify him as a medium infantry drop troop is great.
- Lastly, the brand new Kaeltar Specialists with symbio-bombs and symbio-mates. These guys’ profiles haven’t been released yet but I think they might have the closest in-game analog with the Moran Masai from nomads. The symio-bombs could work similarly to the crazy koalas who just like to give enemies big hugs then explode. The Symbio-mates however might be the tohaa version of helper bots found in other armies. This is all speculation but above all, these little meat bags are cute. And that’s always good for the game.

oh is this not the podcast version?
Will be both.
Wow raven guard assault marine box. Would’ve saved me some money on them shoulder pads had I waited =/ I wonder what the RG strike squad consists of.
Reece or Frankie, are there no 40k events at BAO besides the championship? No highlander or friendly?
No room, unfortunately.
YEAH REECE!! 47:37 “Eldar combi-detachment” 48:09 “Combi-detachment” Isn’t it so much easier to say! And it makes more sense! I’m going to have to trademark it 😛
Haha, we would attribute it to you if we could pronounce your screen name =P
Lol
Remember that you can only use a combi-detachment once per game, though.
Predators are so bad right now.
The hilarious thing, is all the space marine flyers, have heavier side armour!
Just make preds etc, fast, but reroll difficult terrain.
Or make them cheaper.
Cheaper fast and squadrons then we can take 3 tl las that can move!
The long-range ones aren’t terrible; you can sit in a corner and protect your side armor. 13/12/10 would make a big difference for them, though.
Play button greyed out on Twitch?
If land speeders can join bike squads and seperate Landspeder storms get awesome.
nice podcast as always gents 🙂
On the Forge the Narrative podcast, Reece suggested an exception for Imperial Knights to the LOW restrictions.
Why?
There doesn’t seem to be much discussion about making Wraith Knights an exception, and it would seem exceptions like this are bad for the players who aren’t in the top 10%. Every poll we have ever run has shown that attendees to our events would prefer 0-1 Imperial Knights by a massive majority. We’ve generally pushed back at these restrictions due to the Imperial Knight non-LOW status, but now it seems like an obvious choice.
Wouldn’t it be more reasonable/consistent to NOT make an exception?
I think why is that it is a codex and people run them as armies itself.
Its a fun idea to some people in theory. But not fun at all in practice. Talk about Rock-paper-scissors. Put 5 nights on the table week after week, and try to tell me that you are having a great time.
The only time I’ve ever seen someone run nothing but Imperial Knights was a guy looking to club baby seals at the game store. As soon as someone managed to kill a Knight he rage quite and left, and I haven’t seen him since.
However, I’ve seen lots and lots, and lots of players use 1 of them. They have fun. They build fluff around them, and enjoy the Knight being a distinctive part of their army.
At tournaments the trend is that generally you see AD Lance if you see knights at all. I’ve never seen someone running 5 Knights at a tournament, though I have seen a fair number of single Knight players.
Ad Lance is full of feel-badsies, and no one will shed a tear to see it go away.
It is a codex, and thus people should be able to run them by themselves? I don’t think that bears out. When was the last time you saw someone running only Harlequins? Legion of the Damned? Militarum Tempestus? Inquisition?
Lots and lots of codexes exist that aren’t run separately from allies. It would seem that Codex Imperial Knights has far more in common with them then they do a solo codex like Space Marines or Tau or Orks.
There is a big different between are run separately from allies and cant run separately
