Hello everyone Frankie here to talk about this years Broadside Bash.
The Broadside Bash is an awesome event that takes place in San Diego California. My team attends every year and always have a great time. It is a heavy composition tournament with sports scores and painting included in tournament standings. If you haven’t been you should for sure give it a shot, great event with great players. This year the field was stacked with great players from all around such as Alan PJ pants, Geoff Incontrol, Reece Robbins, and of course the worlds greatest: myself!!
So round one I got paired up against an awesome Astra Militarum army. Once I looked over his list I realized that my army had no answer to all of his vehicles haha. Well I might lose my first game :(. I won the roll to go first which was good so that I can kill some of his heavy weapon squads. The Corpse thief was able to kill the lascannons that had gone to ground behind the Aiegis for a 2+. Unfortunately that was the only thing I was able to kill on turn one, not the best. His turn one he is able to put a few wounds on the corpse thief and immobilze two venoms. Turn two I am able to charge his blob squad because he accidentally moved it closer to the corpse thief. The whole game went like that and unfortunately my opponent wasn’t able to kill the corpse thief. The corpse thief got me enough extra points to win the game. Dark Eldar win 20-9.
Game two I got paired against an inquisition army with militarum tempestus. Great another army with a bunch of vehicles, haha. This game is going to be very tough, especially with kill points. He gets turn one and speeds froward towards my army which is not good since I only have one ravager to hurt all of his transports. My turn one I shoot the ravager into the land raider and am able to immobilize it. I shouldn’t have scouted my Talos forward as I was unable to charge his chimera that is right in front of me… rookie mistake. His turn he is able to kill two venoms. I return fire and am able to pop a taurox and kill all the guys inside with my razor wing Jetfighters. The Talos killed the Chimera and I made sure to keep them back to defend the rest of my army. He is able to come back and kill three more of my Venoms. The game ended super close with me only having 6 infantry left along with the corpse thief which again won me the game with their bonus points. I was able to multi charge 4 different units with the Talos to win the game. Dark Eldar win 19-8
Lucky number three I pull a Centurion star allied with the Tyrannic War Vets. This is going to be a really tough game. Luckily for me I win first turn on the relic so my game plan will be to grab the relic on turn one and run away with it and just try to keep the Talos alive. Turn one works out the way I planned it and I am able to kill the bunker and pick up the relic. His turn one he shoots at the Talos and with night fight he is only able to kill one Talos. My turn I move six further towards my deployment edge and shoot into the Centurions bringing two of them down. I desperately try to pick up the extra points for the second mission and hold onto the Relic for dear life. His turn the Stormtalons start bringing the pain and kill all my poor little venoms. The second mission is to close for comfort as I am only up by one point. My turn starts and I am in survival mode trying to make my way for line breaker and keep what few troops alive that I have. The game ends and I have two wounds left on the Talos and 2 infantry models left. If the game goes on I would for sure lose but luckily it ends and I am able to win the game by two points. Wow close game. Dark Eldar win 18-10
The night before game four we go out and party like rockstars. Maybe not the best idea especially when the first game is at 10am. I wake up feeling like death but am still able to make it to the tournament. I pull a local with Khorne Daemonkin. This might be the toughest game yet since his army has a ton of armor. Three Soul Grinders, a Maulerfiend and a couple Helldrakes. What in the world is up with all the armor at this event. My turn one I scout forward and am able to kill his 15 man Bloodletter unit for first blood. His turn he moves forward and is not able to kill any of my Venoms. They are all dodging like all-stars. My turn two the Corpse Thief gets to work and picks me up two bonus points with a multi-charge. A few more turns go by while his Helldrakes are killing all my infantry my Talos are racking up the bonus points. I literally have no chance on killing the Soul Grinders. Luckily enough for me I don’t need too since my Talos went crazy and got me like 7 bonus points. The game ends on 6 and another Dark Eldar win 19-9.
Game Five all the marbles. I pull the one and only Incontrol and his Tyranids. Luckily enough for me we played twice the night before the tournament and I handily beat him both times. Granted I got a great warlord trait and first turn but thats besides the point I’m the worlds greatest haha. So in this game Geoff got first turn… uh oh. Well I need to deploy tactically so I can avoid getting wrecked on turn one. I deploy all the venoms out of flamer range but for some reason not out of devourer range. Another rookie mistake, Geoff flys forward and is able to kill 4 venoms on turn one. This game just got serious haha. I move forward and put some shots into the Flyrants unfortunately not being able to do a wound. Geoff brings the pain on the next turn killing one Talos and both of my venoms. I really need my reserves to come in… but I rolled 1,1,2 hahaha. Well shit this game looks to be over. The rest of the game goes like that with Geoff making all but 3 feel no pains and killing everything he shoots at. The best was a Flyrant that was on the ground shoots at my Razorwing. I need it to shoot its missiles next turn to have any chance at this game and Geoff rolls seven 6’s on the first roll and 2 more on the re-roll….. Well some times its just your day to whoop ass. I end up getting tabled on turn 7 by a mucloid. Tyranids win 20-8.
Over all a great event I ended up finishing 4th once my paint score and sportsmanship got put in. Its fun to go to the more laid back events with player comp and fun missions every once and a while. I would for sure recommend attending those types of events if your local area has them as you meet a lot of really fun people. Next time though I will have to bring the thunder and bring home the trophy for my team, enough messing around. Thanks for reading guys.

Sounds like it was a blast! I really want to pit my list against you someday Frankie, maybe LVO since I don’t see me making it out to San Diego any time soon (probably need a passport to visit the DPRC anyway :P)
So what was your BSB list?
Nice report Frankie! I especially like that last game.. 😉
Sir!
Are you mainly using Mucloids as y our troop choice now? I’m trying to ge t handle on my nids..
…i decided my handle is not moving around 60 guants…
yeah I use mucloids for troop choices in almost all my lists. I still use rippers but of the two “detachments” 3 are usually mucloids.
Ha ha ha, Geoff, your dice rolling practise really paid off! 🙂
Nice overview Frankie. Playing lists that are basically tough counters to yours, and still coming out on top! Awesome job!
How did the rest of the frontline gaming crew do?

The following are the Team 0 players:
Geoff Robinson
Grant VanDen Bosch
Reece Robbins
Jason Rockhill
and of course the greatest 40k player who only loses because he chooses to – Frankie Giampapa
too*
yes thanks
Very nice for the team overall. Interesting to see Orks and SOB at the top! OP OP OP! Meta shift! 🙂
Actually with new Eldar SoB might not be bad. “Your D-Scythe destroyed our holy Immolator! Eat massed melta Xenos scum!” “Cute crotch rockets Xenos, they offend our sisterhood sensibilities, BURN PHALLIC SYMBOL!” (Heavy flamers ignite all over the bikes)
How did your last game go in the fancy dress event on Friday, Franklin?
What was the winning ork list??????
