For a spacewolf player the new eldar and necrons seem impossible to deal with. The top competitive armies in the game just got better. I am doing my best to try to stay positive and build tactics to stop these powerful units and formations, but it keeps getting harder and harder to stay upbeat. The easiest way for gw to go under is for them to alienate over half their user base by not making it not fun for them. And it seems like they already have. Anyone else feel the same?
Sorry *As a spacewolf player
Hmm interesting. I can’t speak to the eldar matchup but necrons suffer in CC and Spacewolves (depending on the style you bring) have access to a ton of strength 10 cc. I mean, wraiths are and scarabs are troublesome but after them you should be running them off the table with thunder calv/lords etc.
I think Space Wolves can handle both new Necrons and Eldar. With Thunderwolf Cavalry and a little help from their Imperial Friends (Loth) Sons of Russ are one of the few that still stand a chance against the ancient races.
You mentioned something… harlequin shriek spam? The boo? I’ve looked at the book and I cant figure out almost ANYTHING good about it. I mean, on a whole army perspective. So I’m very interested about seeing some other peoples thoughts about it.
By themselves not amazing but with a bunch of leadership modifiers found in the Eldar/DE/Harli codexes you can shriek people off the table.
Meh. Space Marine players don’t mind all that much with ATSKNF. It’s just another abuse of a game mechanic (who would have THOUGHT?) like the monstrous creature with a toe in cover getting a 2+ cover save, right Geoff lol?
Oh marines will care. By “Off the table” iNcontrol meant actually killing them with Psychic Shriek, not running them off :D.
I’ve been enjoying this player’s ongoing series about that build type:

So you talking aboutthe bid D?
What about the tiny D? will you talk about the tiny D?
What about the Middle D? I hear that is the sweet spot.
My Suggestion for the D.
Leave 2-5 the same, make 6 (3+d3 wounds/hp) instead of 6+D6. this gives other SH/SHW/GC a fighting chance. I know my Nids aren’t happy paying 500+ pts for GCs while Eldar gets a less than 300pt D Slapper. I also think we should make it that SH/SHW/GC can still take Invuls and FNP against all results of D.
Eldar fix thought: among other changes of course, why not change the ally chart so Eldar and DE are no longer battle brothers? Such a small fix would prevent the D scythe bomb among other killer combos.
Long time Eldar Player. Heck, I got into them with the first Harlequin two parter in WD all those years ago. I also love me some tournaments, so I think my perspective is pretty spot on. First off, other than three things this is an amazingly well balanced book. Everything has a place and use. The three things that are a bit crazy can be tempered with some simple fixes:
1) return distort to its 6e profiles. Really for the template, that is out of control
2) bikes back to 1 in 3 for upgrades. This way vypers actually have a place
3) knight is 295 for sword, 400 for double d
In all honesty the ranged D hasn’t gotten all that much worse from last Ed. I was first blooding like a champ with my knight.
One of my friends won’t go to a local fun event just because he “doesn’t want to go just to be a new eldar punching bag all day.”
And he’s not the only one who has expressed feelings like that. This book is definitely harmful, outright malicious to the game as it’s printed.
Was he okay being the old eldar punching bag?
I have maybe a stupid question, but you guys talk all the time about using deny the witch on blessings, and try as I might reading seventh edition I don’t see that you can. Is this an ITC ruling? Or am I hella bad at reading comprehension?
I’m terrible at reading, feel free to delete both these when you get to it.
Simple fix for most of the broken shenanigans in all of the current cheese lists (including the eldar wraithbomb).
Just treat any battle brothers as allies of convenience. Many problems solved.
On the audio, it’s a bit tinny with a slight echo, probably because of the gain change Frankie mentioned.
For terminator death star Imperial Fists is actually a good chapter. You can either take Lysander for the 4 S10 Ap1 at WS6 with 4 wounds 2+/3++ Eternal Warrior or Pedro Kantor to give the unit +1A (SS/TH Terminators with 3 attacks base!)
