Last Night’s Eldar Challenge Match Replay! Next challenge: tonight at 7:00pm PST

Last night some some more hot Eldar action! We had two contenders step up to try and take my money….

And it’s still in my pocket! Muahaha!

But, I have to say, the second challenger, a pretty hardcore Daemon list, came danger close to taking that $250 out of my hands. He had me on the ropes all game, and despite the fact that I was playing sloppy 40k, my opponent made one critical mistake at the end of the game, leaving the opening for me to pull the age old “Jump on the Objectives Turn 5 and Pray,” Eldar tactic and well, it worked. I rolled the end game die, and it came up a 2, giving me a very narrow victory. Good to note: we used unmodified Invisibility and 2+ reroll mechanics in this game, so much of the Daemon army was essentially invincible for most of the game. It was too close for my taste! But, I think a good point is made: to compete with new Eldar–even a relatively soft list like I was playing–you need to use th emost powerful/abusive rules mechanics in the game to stand a chance.

The first game, vs. Jon Bunn and his Tactical Spam Raven Guard, was like all the other Eldar games we’ve played so far. Pretty much a wipe out. Jon was a great sport, though, and kept trying to win all the way to end game.

Tonight we’ve got a super tough battle, Doug Johnson and his Imperial Mash-up army. If it is his Adepticon list, it will be Dual Cent-Stars! Yikes. We shall see if I can hold onto that money a little longer.
